🐾 SUCCESS STORY: KONA 🐾
When Kona first came to PCS, this beautiful German Shepherd was struggling with reactivity rooted heavily in nerves and insecurity after previously being attacked by another dog.
For Kona, our goal wasn’t simply to stop a reaction. We wanted to help her build confidence, strengthen her trust in her handler, and learn that seeing another dog doesn’t mean she needs to worry about what’s going to happen next.
Throughout her Board & Train, Kona worked around other dogs regularly, practiced engagement and obedience, ventured out on field trips, and learned how to navigate distractions while looking to her handler for direction. ❤️
And little by little, we watched things begin to change.
Situations that once created uncertainty became opportunities for Kona to make better choices. Her confidence grew, her engagement improved, and she became increasingly capable of moving through the world without feeling like she had to handle everything herself.
Kona’s story is also an important reminder that progress with reactivity isn’t about creating a dog who suddenly loves every dog they see. Success can look like neutrality. It can look like choosing your handler. It can look like seeing a trigger and continuing on with your day.
We are incredibly proud of how far this girl came during her time with us. 🖤🐾
Keep shining, Kona!
