Introducing Cherry, a big, beautiful 16-pound cuddle muffin with a tender heart. 🍒 She’s 6 years old and has been adopted and returned twice through no fault of her own. 😔 Cherry is hoping her next home will finally be her last!

She’s a sensitive girl who gets stressed easily, so she’s looking for a calm, predictable environment. Cherry can coexist with another low-key pet, but she’d really prefer to be the only cat. And if you’re a lap-cat lover, she’s your dream come true. Cherry wants nothing more than to curl up on your lap and stay there for hours.

She’s ready for someone who will love her, reassure her, and give her the forever home she’s been waiting for! 🩷

Check out Yeti! Yeti is a 3-month-old female Great Pyrenees and Lab mix. She’s currently around 25 pounds and is expected to grow into a very large, fluffy companion. Yeti is outgoing, cheerful, and ready to make friends with everyone she meets. She loves people, enjoys other dogs, and brings a joyful, goofy energy wherever he goes.

Yeti is playful, affectionate, and happiest when she’s close to his humans. She’s still learning her puppy manners, but she’s eager to please and picks things up quickly.

👅🐾 Parka is participating in Tongue Out Tuesday! And we have to say… she understood the assignment. 😂💕

Meet Parka, a 1-year-old, 67-pound Great Pyrenees who is basically a giant fluffy cloud with four legs and a whole lot of love to give. ☁️🐶

Parka is one of the sweetest, gentlest girls around. She absolutely adores her people and doesn’t care if you’re big or small—she WILL find a way to nuzzle up against you, give you a Parka-sized hug, and stare lovingly into your eyes until you have no choice but to fall in love. ❤️

Her perfect day? An early morning walk, some quality time with her favorite humans, a little lounging in the shade (this fluffy girl knows better than to overdo the Texas sunshine! ☀️), and another stroll when the evening cools down.

She’s also an enthusiastic toy collector, a champion food gobbler, and a professional affection giver. 🧸🥰 Once Parka gets comfortable, she enjoys playing with other friendly pups, too!

If your life could use 67 pounds of fluff, sweetness, and unconditional love, Parka would very much like to apply for the position. 🏡💗

Meet Fettucine! She is a 7 month old, female tuxedo kitten and she’s ready to bust out of here! 🩷 Fettucine is the sweetest kitten around. She loves attention and always greets people with a meow and a purr. Fettucine is an active kitten who prefers exploring over cuddling. Fettucine is a busy-body and a nosy gal, she loves to be in everybody's business. Like most kittens, Fettucine would do best with another cat in the home to spend plenty of time playing with. Come meet this attention hog!

ADOPTED! 🩷 Gunnar is a 3-month-old, male, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix with a heart as big as his paws. This handsome pup had a rough start to life. When he was first rescued, he was covered in ant bites so severe they looked like a skin infection. With lots of TLC, Gunnar has fully healed and is ready to find the forever family he deserves.

Currently about 15 pounds, Gunnar is expected to grow into a fairly large dog. Hes incredibly friendly and adores people, greeting everyone like a long-lost friend. Hes still very much a puppy, though, and he loves to teethe on ankles so a home without small children would be best while he learns better manners.

Because Gunnar spent many of his early puppy days in a kennel, hes a bit of a hot mess in the most endearing way. Hell likely benefit from a trainer to help him become the well-behaved, confident boy hes meant to be. With structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, this sweetie will thrive.

🐱 August's Volunteer of the Month is Devyn Cullen 🐱

Devyn first read about Second Chance when researching volunteering places and animal shelters. She has been volunteering for about 7 months.

On top of the regular cleaning and taking out the animals, Devyn has helped bathe the animals, including trimming their nails, holding them for medication, deep clean kennels, organizing folders, taking pictures of the animals, and doing the dishes. Devyn’s favorite task is anything that involves being with the animals and showing them love.

Originally from Frisco Texas, Devyn is attending their senior year of high school. She loves working, volunteering, and spending time with her friends. Devyn has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and used to have 2 guinea pigs, 2 geckos and a spider.

Devyn first wanted to volunteer because she needed hours, and loves giving back to people and animals that need it. She saw that Second Chance SPCA was a great place that took care of the animals and the people. It’s a long drive, but it’s worth it when she sees the animals.

“I remember this kitten Indigo who was very young and often always playing and biting people. I was able to sit with him and he wouldn’t bite me. It was surprising to the other people because all he would do is bite and play.”

Lylla is our latest pup that had a blast with our friends at Zoom Room Dog Training! A doggy day out is just what this girl needed! She’s been at the shelter for months patiently waiting for her forever home.
