Meet Nova!

Nova is a beautiful lab mix looking for the right forever home. She was surrendered by her previous owner to our training facility, where she has spent time working on her reactivity and building confidence!

Since then, she has learned basic obedience skills and continues to make great progress every day. Nova can heel, sit, down, spin and more! She is crate trained and rides well in the car.

Nova is an intelligent dog with lots of energy and personality. She would do best in a home that can provide consistency, continued training, and an outlet for her energy so she can keep building on the progress she has made.

She would be an amazing match for someone experienced with active dogs who enjoys training, outdoor adventures, or giving working breeds a job to do. Nova is eager to bond with her person and has so much potential in the right home.

Meet Gibsy 🐾

Gibsy is actually a super confident puppy. This was just his VERY first time figuring out how to play with other dogs.

At first, he wasn’t sure what to do. New dogs, new environment, lots of excitement all at once.

So instead of rushing him, we let Gibsy explore and socialize at his own pace.

A few minutes later… he was making friends and having the time of his life 🥹

Not every puppy needs to be “fixed.” Sometimes they just need the right environment to build confidence and learn.

One of the biggest tests in dog training:

Can your dog stay calm when you walk away? 👀

I use a mirror during place training so I can see what the dog does naturally without hovering over them the whole time.

The goal is building patience, consistency, and confidence, even when I’m across the room cutting treats.

Little moments like this are what create a reliable dog in real life, not just during training sessions.

This is basically how capturing and shaping work in dog training.

You notice a tiny piece of behavior you like.

You mark it.

You reward it.

The dog goes, “Wait… that worked?”

Then they offer it again.

Then they experiment.

Then you selectively reward the pieces that move closer to the final behavior you want.

That’s how a tiny movement can turn into a full skill.

The magic is not that the dog “just knows.”

The magic is clear timing, repetition, and strategic reinforcement.

This is also why we have to be careful what we reward.

Dogs are always learning.

Sometimes we shape what we want on purpose.

Sometimes we shape what we don’t want by accident.
