Meet Nike!
Nike is a sweet 14-year-old Coton/Poodle mix who was ready for a well-deserved spa day with Wag N Wheels!
At 14 years young, she received plenty of patience, gentle handling, and extra TLC to make her grooming experience as comfortable and relaxing as possible.
Before we could begin her groom, we carefully worked through the excess matting on Nike’s body and legs.
Mat removal takes time, experience, patience, and very slow, careful movements. Our priority is always our pup’s comfort, taking our time and working as gently as possible throughout the process.
As we carefully removed the matted fur, we could see Nike beginning to feel more comfortable. With each section we worked through, she seemed to relax a little more.
Nike did such an amazing job and was incredibly patient with us throughout the process! We’re so proud of this sweet senior girl and love seeing her become more comfortable and confident with each step. 🐾💕
Then it was time for Nike’s bath! We used our soothing relief shampoo and conditioner, along with a gentle foaming face wash.
And let me tell you… she LOVED her facial rubs! She was so sweet and relaxed while getting all cleaned up.
Just look at that face! Such a sweet girl!
Nike’s mama was a little worried about the blow-dry process today because she had been told previously that she wasn’t handling it very well. So, we took our time and used all the tools available to help make her comfortable.
We used open nozzles, Happy Hoodies, and our dryer with an adjustable speed setting. At one point, we had the dryer running at just 0.25 of its normal speed to keep things as gentle as possible.
She fussed a little, but with plenty of reassurance and patience, we were able to help her through it. She even dramatically threw her head into the towel… and gave me the ultimate “Seriously?!” side-eye.
Little by little, she learned that the blow dryer wasn’t so scary after all.
It’s all about patience and finding what works best for each pup.
