Their primary role was to flush woodcock and other game birds from dense brush so hunters could capture them. Over time, their gentle temperament, trainability, and affectionate nature made them popular companions and show dogs. Today, Cocker Spaniels are loving family pets that also excel in obedience, agility, therapy work, and other activities requiring cooperation and energy.

September Breed of the Month: German Shepherd 🐾🦴

The German Shepherd was originally developed in Germany in 1899, who aimed to create the ultimate working dog by prioritizing intelligence, strength, and loyalty. Initially bred as farm dogs, their primary roles were to herd large flocks of sheep and protect livestock from natural predators like wolves. As farming modernized and the need for herding declined, the breed's extreme trainability and courage allowed them to transition into versatile modern working roles. Today, German Shepherds excel in police and military K-9 units for tracking and guard duty, utilize their powerful sense of smell in search and rescue missions, and serve as dedicated assistance.

Grooming: $65
Boarding: $30
Only applies to purebred German Shepherds for the month of September 2026.
