Sign up is open!
We are very excited to announce Deborah Stevens is joining the Lucky Dog team to teach Nosework classes on Tuesday evenings!
Deborah Stevens
Deb’s interest in canine nosework began in 2018 after completing puppy classes and realizing that the Australian Shepherd, Luna, needed more to keep her busy. Team Luna has worked through the NACSW levels (ORT, NW1, NW2, NW3, NW3-Elite, Elite, Elite-Champion as well as EST, ELT-S, and ELT-P) and is now competing at the Summit League level.
The canine sense of smell is estimated to be 100,000 times more sensitive than the human sense, with a much larger part of their brain is dedicated to processing odor. Working with their human to source and indicate on target scents is highly rewarding and provides mental stimulation. Nose work classes are designed for dogs of all breeds and abilities. Even senior dogs can learn and have fun searching.
Deborah’s goal is to teach handlers to interact productively with their teammates through careful observation and positive support, while encouraging confident, independent, motivated canine searching.
