🐾 Ralphie is putting in the WORK! 🐾

This big guy is learning all about his foundational skills, and because he’s such a BIG boy, getting comfortable on the cot is taking a little extra practice! 😂

Kyle used the leash to help model exactly what we’re asking of Ralphie, then continued with longer place practices and plenty of recall tosses to give him resets and more opportunities to learn.

And guess what? He’s starting to GET IT! 🙌🐶

We may need to upgrade Ralphie to a bigger cot though… What do you think?! 😂

His listening skills, willingness to work, and desire to understand what’s being asked of him have been phenomenal. We are SO impressed with this big guy! 💙

🐾 Foundations with Bandit! 🐾

Bandit is getting to know his trainer while we start layering in those all-important foundational skills! 💪🐶

We’re especially focusing on heel and place, including place work on the cot. Recall tosses are a great tool here because they provide resets while giving Bandit plenty of practice returning to and getting comfortable on the cot.

We use cots frequently in training, so we want our dogs to LOVE them! 🛏️ When it’s time for place, they should understand that the expectation is to stay put until their handler says otherwise.

That’s the first step toward building great behavior and reliable habits! 🙌

With clear commands, modeling, practice, and rewards, Bandit picked it up quickly! Look at that boy learning! 🖤🐾

🛠️🐾 Lowe's Home Improvement field trip with Juno and our one-on-one client, Rocko! 🐾🛠️

Sometimes two dogs are better than one! Training together can maximize exposure, create new distractions, and give both dogs an opportunity to practice staying focused when the environment gets a little more challenging. 👏🏼

Juno and Kyle are still getting comfortable with each other as they finish up her training, while Kyle is working with Rocko and his dad on real-world exposures, behaviors, manners, and ultimately, more freedom!

They absolutely CRUSHED it individually, but together? Even better! 💪🏼 Being each other’s biggest distraction didn’t stop them from doing exactly what was expected. That’s the kind of progress we love to see!

And this is what makes one-on-one training so valuable. We aren’t just teaching the dog, we’re teaching the owner too! Kyle is helping Rocko’s dad understand how to communicate, set Rocko up for success, and confidently continue those skills in the real world.

More skills. Better communication. More freedom. 🐾❤️

Ralphie is learning ALL the foundations! 🐾💪

We’re starting slow, getting to know each other, building communication, and making sure those skills are rock solid before we add bigger distractions!

So far, Ralphie is working on:
✨ Reward systems
✨ Verbal commands and communication
✨ Place work
✨ Recall with the recall toss
✨ Heel work
✨ Building focus and engagement

This big boy is doing AWESOME for his start! 🙌 For the next few days, we’ll spend most of our time inside and at the facility really nailing down those foundational skills. Once he’s got a strong understanding of what’s expected, we’ll take those skills out into the real world and start adding in those real-life exposures! 🌎🐶

Foundation first, freedom next! ❤️

🐾💙 WELCOME TO RIDGESIDE, RALPHIE! 💙🐾

This handsome 10-month-old Great Dane is here for a 2-week Board & Train, and we are ready to get to work! 💪🐶

Ralphie’s goals include:
✨ Better recall
✨ Leash manners
✨ Working through some slight aggression
✨ Overall obedience
✨ Building the foundation for more freedom and confidence

We can’t wait to watch this big guy learn, grow, and show us just how much he can accomplish! 🐾💙

Welcome to the Ridgeside family, Ralphie! Let’s get to work! 🏁🐶

Look at these two! 👏🐾 They are REALLY nailing down their place work and eCollar skills! 🔥

And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a little reward for good behavior?! 🦴💙 Positive reinforcement helps build those strong foundations, and once those expectations are clear and the dogs are on track, the rewards become less necessary.

The goal? Dogs who understand what’s expected, can self-regulate, and WANT to display those good behaviors all the time! 🙌

This is what building clarity, communication, and reliability looks like! How impressive are these two?! 🤩🐶

Look at this eCollar clarity work! 👀🐾

No verbals needed! Just stay, in place until the vibrate or tone says otherwise! 🙌

This puppy is also showing some AMAZING self-regulation skills. Just checking in, waiting patiently, and making sure they’re on track before making a move. 🐶✨

When expectations are clear and communication makes sense, dogs can start making great choices all on their own! That’s the goal! 💪🐾

🐾 FUN + WORK = THE BEST COMBINATION! 🎉

Playing makes work fun, and when training feels fun, our dogs are excited to learn! 🙌

Foundational skills are SO important. We start slow, build confidence, create clear expectations, and then work our way up! 🐶💪

It’s all about building those skills, creating communication, and showing our dogs that learning can be rewarding AND fun! ❤️

Because when the foundation is strong, the possibilities for freedom are endless! 🐕✨
