August Adoptions - Puppypalooza! 🐶🐾🐶
https://youtu.be/rVGyOXXArlA
August turned into another Canine Collective Puppypalooza! More than half of this month's 29 adoptions were puppies. Six Toy Story pups found homes and all of the hound litter and boxer litter were adopted! August even brought a first in Canine Collective history when one family adopted THREE puppies together! Yes, a triplet adoption! We're looking forward to the undoubtedly chaotic — and very funny — stories that are sure to come from this household! Petite sisters Sage and Dottie also hit the jackpot when they were adopted together, while tiny chi’s Hansel and Gretel found homes in two very different ways. Gretel charmed her way into a new home at a busy adoption event, while Hansel decided his foster home suited him just fine and became an official foster fail!
But August wasn't only about puppies. Some of the month's happiest endings belonged to our adult dogs — including long-timers who had watched many kennel friends come and go, and frightened newcomers who arrived unsure of the world around them. After waiting nearly 20 months, our 8-year-old good ole boy Rusty finally got his turn! Older dogs can sometimes be overlooked, and Rusty watched many kennel friends come and go while he waited patiently for someone to choose him. In August, someone finally did. We couldn't be happier for this sweet senior boy! ❤️Another long-timer (28 months) headed home this month when Boze was adopted and became Scout!. After a little more than two weeks, his family reports that he is “the best boy,” smart, “sweet as the dickens” and “loved without measure.” We think Scout has landed exactly where he belongs!
Blossom, now Bailey Lou, had one of August’s most remarkable happy endings. After being dumped and surviving on her own, she was adopted by the very family who first tried to help her — and she’s now learning what it means to be safe and loved. Mel, now Doc, had his own transformation after arriving as a matted, flea-covered stray. A foster home gave him the chance to shine, and he’s now happily adopted and bonding with his new canine sister, Yella.
Speaking of new siblings... Savannah, now Savvy, hit the jackpot with one who shares a bit of her history! Her family previously adopted Relish from us, and both dogs originally came from the Pike County pound. Their family says they act like they’ve been best friends forever — playing tug, wrestling and racing around the yard.
As always, none of these happy endings happen without a village. Thank you to our fosters who open their homes, our volunteers who walk, transport, photograph, groom and love our dogs, our supporters who donate and share their stories, and everyone who helps us reach the families who need to find them. Most of all, thank you to our adopters for choosing rescue and giving these dogs the homes they've been waiting for. We wish every one of our August alumni a lifetime of love and happiness.
229 ADOPTIONS FOR THE MONTH!
