Meet Ricotta!

Ricotta is a 6 year old female tabico.

Ricotta has actually been here for a couple weeks, but she’s been quite shy until yesterday! Some kitties just need a little extra time to adjust. She went from hiding, to all of a sudden being super friendly, cuddly, and talkative!

Ricotta especially seems to like other calm cats. We’ve seen her cuddling BB, Marina, Jakey, Midnight Blue, and a bunch of other cats! She would love a kitty friend in her new home. Ricotta also looooves a nice cozy cubby bed!

She does like being petted quite a bit, but her adopter will need to give her a little patience while she adjusts.

Ricotta is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, up to date on monthly flea preventative, and FIV-/FELV-z

This is my favorite bad news: We are down to 9 cats this weekend! So many went home! 👏

Unfortunately because of schedules, we probably cannot get more kitties from .catrescue.pa until Thursday.

Until then, we will be limiting the room to 6 people at a time! This ensures that the cats don’t get overwhelmed and every visitor gets to interact with multiple cats. 💖

Please make reservations if you can! We likely won’t have much space for walk-ins because of this limit.

A belated, but very happy Pride Month to everyone! 🌈🏳️‍⚧️

The Black Cat Market is proud to be owned and staffed by folks from the LGBTQ+ community!

We actually never took down our Pride decorations from last year…..partially from laziness, and partially because we want everyone to know that we are a safe space for the q***r community as soon as they walk in the door.

From BCM owner Olivia:

My Perfect Poe passed away peacefully this afternoon. He spent the day snacking on churu, getting kisses from his roommates, and even got to adventure outside a little. He lived a gorgeous, spoiled, happy 19 years; the first many years with his original owner and the last year and a half with me. He never knew one single day of suffering, and that makes me so happy and relieved.

Poe loved making soup (dropping a bunch of kibble in his water), napping, playing with the faucet water, and eating snacks. He also loved his brother Raven, who he will be joining in heaven. Poe had the loudest purr in the house and still liked to chase the laser pointer up until a couple weeks ago.

I will love Poe forever and ever. I can’t believe how big of a space him and Raven were able to take up in my heart in just a year. ❤️

Please bear with us this week while we navigate this grief. We may have to be closed or have weird hours.

Hey quick question: WHY IS SWEET PEA STILL HERE?!

Don’t get me wrong, we love this guy! But we’re shocked he hasn’t been adopted yet!

Sweet Pea is a 5 year old male black cat.

Sweet Pea is in fact a sweet pea. He gives a big purr when you pet him, and sometimes if you’re super lucky he will climb into your lap! He’s like a weighted blanket but better!

He does have very mild CH, meaning he wobbles a tiny bit when he walks. This doesn’t affect his litter box usage and he can still hop up on things and use the stairs fine! It won’t get any worse and he doesn’t require any special accommodations.

For the most part, Sweet Pea gets along fine with other cats! He has been a little annoyed at the kittens stealing his bed though…..

Sweet Pea is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed, up to date on flea preventative, and FIV-/FELV-.
