Yubi has finally become comfortable enough to lay in their kitty meeting area with there sister out in the livingroom! This is huge! Their owners have worked so hard to make this happen! Im so proud of everyone!! Way to go girls!!

Here is Ace practicing seeing dogs without reacting. He used to bark, lunge, and bit his leash. Now with a ton of hard work and counter conditioning/desensitization he can walk through his neighborhood without being on such high alert. We can also look at and be a little closer than we have ever been able to get to other dogs. You can achieve this without using adverse tools. Actually a prong or shock collar will definitely make this behavior worse. It may look like it helped and fixed the problem at first because you've added pain and pressure to extinguish the behavior but if you never help the dog feel better about what they are reacting to then you didn't help the dog at all or train them in any way. We can stop reactivity without using adverse tools!! I do it everyday!! Of a trainer is telling you that these tools are the only way FIND ANOTHER TRAINER WITH KNOWLEDGE!!

At the being you hear me say oh crap... we had multiple dogs acrossed us on the other side of the street. I honestly didn't think Ace would do well but as you can see his name precedes him because he ACED that test! 😅

This is exactly what it should look like when you tell your dog to "Leave it". They should stop immediately and look back to you for their next directions. This is one of many cues we work on with dogs that are reactive. If you have a reactive dog give me a call today and I'll show you how to stop it without using adverse tools. I show you how to not just stop the behavior but how to also make your dog feel better about that stimuli. Shock collar and prongs only say stop that. They don't teach the dog how to feel better about what they are afraid of. Most reactive is due to fear. Fix the fear you fix the reactivity without worring if your dog will bit someone "without warning"as most put it. Stop normalizing shock/prong collars as a good tool for reactive dogs! We know there are better way to deal with it. Its up to you to have the patience to show them the way.

MYTH: “He knows better.”

Aggression is not a moral failure.

It is behavior shaped by:
• Genetics
• Learning history
• Environment
• Stress load
• Physiological state

Attributing intent does not improve intervention.

Understanding drivers does.

When we shift from “He knows better” to “What is influencing this behavior?” the plan changes.

And so do outcomes.

Witness Baloo's journey to a brighter future unfold, as we take his first steps together. I'm thrilled to share how I introduced him to his collar and harness, setting the stage for a lifetime of adventure and discovery. I guickly discovered his sensitivity to pressure (which I don't use). Something as light as a harness or collar would set him off. It wasn't the act of putting on the harness or collar that posed a problem, but rather the feeling of wearing them that triggered anxiety, manifesting as aggression to those that didn't understand. Jumping and nipping at me, the harness, and leash became his way of coping. Recognizing his distress, we shifted our approach, focusing on building trust and comfort indoors, where he could grow accustomed to the sensations of wearing a harness and collar at his own pace. Only when he was ready did we gradually transition to outdoor walks, celebrating small victories along the way. By prioritizing his comfort and trust, I've been delighted to see Baloo transform into a confident companion, eagerly anticipating his leash and harness, and embarking on new adventures with enthusiasm.
