On October 21, 2026, Wedgewood Veterinary Compounding Pharmacy announced a voluntary, nationwide recall of nearly 4,000 compounded veterinary product listings due to potential potency issues.
If your pet is receiving a medication from Wedgewood, please read the details & call us if you have any concerns.

Recall Details
• Reason: Inconsistencies in laboratory analytical testing data may have caused products to be subpotent (too weak) or superpotent (too strong / risk of toxicity or overdose).
• Affected Products: Shipped nationwide in the U.S. between February 18, 2026, and October 6, 2026, covering multiple dosage forms (powders, pastes, oral suspensions, injectables, ophthalmic/ear solutions, and topical sprays/gels) for companion, equine, exotic, zoo, wildlife, and aquatic animals.
• Management: Wedgewood is coordinating the recall via Sedgwick; affected customers are being contacted directly regarding replacements or refunds.

What You Should Do
Pet / Animal Owners: Immediately stop using any potentially affected medication (while keeping the product) and contact your veterinarian if you have health concerns.
• Contact Line: Reach Wedgewood/Sedgwick recall services at 866-562-5931 (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM ET; Saturday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM ET).

🐾Wellness Wednesday!
⁉️Did you know?
Kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory infection that can spread easily between dogs. Common signs include a dry, honking cough, sneezing, nasal discharge, and lethargy. Vaccination can help protect your pet, especially those who visit boarding facilities, groomers, daycare, or dog parks. Talk with our veterinary team about whether the Bordetella vaccine is right for your dog!

This National Veterinary Technician Week, we're celebrating the incredible Associates who make our hospitals thrive — like Karen, who began as a CSR and never stopped growing and like Joanne, who sought mentorship and support to obtain her VTNE.

At VCA, we're proud to champion our veterinary technicians every step of the way — offering mentorship, encouragement, and the resources to help you reach your full potential.

To every vet tech in our VCA family: thank you. What you do matters deeply — to our teams, to our patients, and to the pet owners who trust us with their most beloved companions.

Halloween is just around the corner!
⚠️ Did you know that Xylitol is toxic to pets?

Xylitol is a sweetener found in many sugar-free products, including some gum, candy, baked goods, peanut butter, toothpaste, and other products. Even a small amount can be dangerous for dogs and may cause a rapid drop in blood sugar, seizures, liver damage, and potentially be life-threatening.

🐶 Keep products containing xylitol safely away from your pets.

If you think your pet may have ingested something containing xylitol, contact your an emergency veterinary hospital immediately. Don't wait for symptoms to appear.

Every surgery starts long before the first incision. It starts with a veterinary technician who has spent years mastering their skills, anticipating needs, monitoring vitals, and showing up fully prepared for every patient who comes through the door.

Vet techs are the heart of every OR team, and their skill and dedication make a difference every single day. At some VCA specialty hospitals, we take surgical collaboration even further. Some of our teams include Certified Surgical Technologists (CSTs) — professionals who earned specialized degrees specifically to support surgeons in the OR.

The result? Less time under anesthesia. Better outcomes. And a team that truly works as one. 💙

Because every patient is somebody's pet — and they deserve nothing less than the best.
