For nearly eight years, Scarlet has been a patient at Animal Friends’ Animal Wellness clinic, receiving care for everything from infections to anxiety. But earlier this year, what began as a routine vaccine appointment quickly turned into a frightening emergency.

Shortly after leaving the clinic, Scarlet began stumbling and struggled to stand. Her family rushed her back, and our veterinary team immediately stepped in. Knowing she needed emergency care, two of our veterinary technicians went above and beyond to get her to a nearby emergency hospital to ensure she received the care she needed.

At the hospital, Scarlet went into anaphylactic shock. After a terrifying night of hospitalization, she stabilized and was able to return home. Our team continued supporting her family afterward, even helping facilitate reimbursement for her emergency treatment.

Through it all, Scarlet’s family wasn’t alone. They had a team ready to offer compassionate care, guidance and support when it mattered most.

As an Accelerator grantee, Animal Friends is working to expand access to affordable veterinary care for families in our community. With support from PetSmart Charities, we’re helping more pets receive the preventive care, diagnostics and treatment they need to live healthy lives.

Meet Meadow she is available for adoption through Animal Friends H2H Rehoming adoption program.

At Animal Friends, we believe the best place for a pet is with a loving family. Our H2H Rehoming program offers an alternative to surrendering by allowing families to actively participate in rehoming their pets.

Beautiful little Meadow is a stunning five-month-old dilute gray tortie kitten with the most beautiful coloring and a sweet face to match.

She is a sweet little soul who deserves the chance to leave the hardships of street life behind and discover how wonderful it is to be safe, loved, and cared for. Meadow is still just a baby, and she has her whole life ahead of her. Instead of growing up having to fend for herself, she deserves a warm bed, a full bowl, gentle hands, and someone who will love her for the rest of her life. Her gorgeous soft (rare gray) tortoiseshell coloring makes her truly special, but it's what's inside that makes Meadow so deserving of a forever home. Meadow is playful, gentle, and will curl up in your lap for cuddles. Did we mention how photogenic she is?
