We wanted to give a huge shout out of appreciation to The Benter Foundation. As a grantee, we are eligible to utilize one of their meeting spaces at no cost. Last week, we took them up on that offer! Considering our usual meeting space is on site with bugs abuzzin’ and chickens roaming, it was such a gift to be able to meet around a table in an air-conditioned space with WiFi and a whiteboard that actually had working markers (iykyk 😂). PLUS, a complimentary coffee/tea/water station!

Don’t get me wrong, we love that our usual meeting space is on our site but sometimes we need something a bit more contained, and conducive to substantial conversations. Last week, that conversation entailed an important debrief after closing out the largest grant that our organization has ever received. This debrief was facilitated by the talented Mahogany Thaxton, who fills two part-time roles at our organization: Director of Development and Production & Distribution Assistant.

The facilities and amenities that The Benter Foundation allowed us to utilize helped us achieve a very fruitful conversation with clear action steps (hooray!). Thank you for providing this service to your grantees.

🍁 This Saturday, August 15 from 12p - 1:30p (wash pack area)

Starting a Fall Garden Workshop

Join us to learn how to extend your garden season into the fall! We’ll focus on planting a fall garden in the ground or in containers. We’ll chat about growing cool weather crops like collards, kale, carrots, spinach and more, preparing your garden space for the season change, growing in containers, and tips to have a bountiful fall harvest! Each participant will receive a free cool season plant seedling to grow at home.

This free workshop is part of our Gardening Basics Workshop series and one of the ways we support the Garfield Grows Network (GGN), a free informal learning and support network for Garfield growers of all ages and experience levels. Many thanks to the SWPA United Way Community Food Solutions Grant for supporting this workshop and the Garfield Grows Network!
