Is your pup over 18wks-ish old? This is where you’ll start for our basic manners series and where we introduce all the foundation skills and games your pup needs for the higher levels of class.

Dogs will be introduced to foundation level basic manners like focus, sit, down, impulse control games, polite greeting games, settling on a mat and being patient, loose leash walking, beginning of come when called, beginning of sit until released, and more.

Humans will learn how to effectively use clicker/marker training to build solid communication and build a positive relationship. They’ll learn how to prevent unwanted problem behaviors while working on training better manners and how to make good training choices for their dog.

Prerequisites: This can be used as a first class or a refresher. We can use visual barriers to give a more nervous or spicy pup a privacy area to feel comfortable working, but dogs need to be okay with other people and dogs in the environment.

American Ninja Warrior Doggo edition! Your pup will learn all the novice level parkour skills and squences to be able to later film skills and submit a video to the International Dog Parkour Association to earn the Novice Title! Or use these physical obstacle tricks to spice up your walks and tire out your dogs even more on their daily walks!

Learn all the skills on solid and safe equipment and then take the skills out into nature! Make your walks more exciting by adding paws up, over, under, through, balance beam, around, back up, and hop up to the route! Paws up on that wall, go around that street sign, walk across that low retaining wall, hop over that low fence, crawl under that bench, slither between those posts, etc.

Pre-requisites--Dogs need to have completed Elementary Manners successfully or higher. We can do 1 full barrier for a well-managed spicy pup who works quietly in group class with the barrier. If your dog needs a full barrier, please reach out first to see if we have space.

Puppy training and socialization class! Puppies will learn how to offer desirable behaviors like sit, down, attention, foundation leash walking, impulse control, polite greeting games, and more to a puppy appropriate level. We also emphasize good foundation socialization so they will have plenty of opportunities to see that people are awesome (even if they are wearing weird things), they’ll build confidence on unstable surfaces, learn to be brave climbing equipment, learn that noises can be fun in the ball pit, that vet visits and groomer visits aren’t scary, and they’ll have a couple puppy play opportunities.

PRE-REQUISITES: Must be 18 weeks or younger by week 1 (tiny breeds who will be less than 10lbs as adults can be 20wks), be current on their vaccination protocol (and finish it during class if applicable), & have a clean f***l test or proof of recent worming before class.

Last year we offered a pride photo fundraiser for and we had a blast! Between the photo fundraiser, sticker sales, and shirt sales we raised just over $2,000 for the Trevor Project, which is an incredible organization dedicated to su***de prevention in LGBTQ+ youth.

Would anyone be interested in another pride photo fundraiser event again this year? $50 for a 15 minute sitting and you get 1 edited high res digital file (you can purchase additional images if you want).

I think I got a few extra props last year and maybe a second pride backdrop? I'll be switching our photobooth over to the pride one today or tomorrow and will check on the backdrop I see if there's a new one.

If you would be interested in a pride photo shoot comment, message, or email us! If we get a handful of folks interested, we'll schedule an event for some time in June (ish).

So you've mastered intro to scent, let's get into the extra fun part of the scentwork game! This class builds on birch and containers to all the other elements found in scentwork!

We'll teach interior searches, exterior searchers, buried, submerged, and vehicles. We'll introduce the 3 other common odors anis, clove, cypress. We'll continue to work on odor obedience, introduce some indication games, continue to build searching skills, learn to search for more than one hide, and more. Human handlers will continue to work on good leash handling, general handling skills, reading their dog as they navigate odor, and more.

Students can expect to take this class multiple times before they've mastered all the skills we cover. This is a FABULOUS class for folks who have some struggles happening in trials--go back to basics and building those up often resolves common struggles.

Pre-requisites--Dogs must have successfully passed intro to scent at SJC (or be a team competing who need to come back to basics to resolve some struggles). Dogs will be working outside and need to be able to work outside at our shopping center without being too fearful or reactive to things in teh world. Dogs need to be able to pass by other dogs on the way to search areas while holding their marbles together.

Last chance for a $20 rapid rewards bag!! We have 4 treat pouches left at this price ($8 less than on Amazon), 2 orange and 2 lime (ours includes the waist belt)!

Prices, surprising no one, have gone up a ton since January 2025 when I made our last order.

Pricing going forward will be figured out once I finish our order, but expect in the $27 - $30 range (including the belt)--which is what they go for on Amazon. I don't up charge these at all, just my costs plus shipping, rounded to a dollar to make life easy!

If you want to reserve one of the 4 I have left to pick up in class, let me know!

Wait, what? You aren't surprised by the bandaids and bruises on the arms of a person with a new cattle dog puppy? Genetics matter that much? Yeah--genetics are also the thing we cannot change and cannot totally control.

That adorably cute fluffy standard goldendoodle that everyone says is the best family pet? That dog is made up of not one but TWO very active hunting breeds who enjoy retrieving things, running, swimming, and generally getting to be very active. So it's not surprising when people sometimes struggle with their puppy being very bitey, very chewy, grabbing all sorts of things (namely hands and arms), and having a hard time settling without ample nature time.

Sometimes you don't get the benefit of knowing the genetic make up of your pup and you make observations and learn about them to meet their needs.

But when you have the opportunity to know what breeds make up a dog make sure to learn how to meet their needs and what they are like in our modern world. Guarding dogs are often social, until they aren't. Herding dogs really love to control movement, regardless of who they are moving. Beagles are gonna bay and sniff and sniff.

Breed is not everything, each individual has their own genetic make up that affects temperament and behavior. So if you have the chance to get to know about your pup's parents (and extended doggo family) it can help you make educated choices. If some relatives struggled with XX behaviors, it's definitely possible your pup will struggle as well. Certainly how dogs are raised affects their behavior, but disregarding breed or thinking "it's all in how you raise them" can lead to challenging situations.
