r one priority! We know the importance of your family pet and we commit to making him or her feel safe and pampered while in our care. One of the many ways we do this is by minimizing the number of pets in our salon at any given time. Your scheduled appointment is very important to us and your pet. They don't sit in a cage to wait their turn or chained to a hook. They are treated like this is their home away from home. We do not take walk-ins. This is when chaos can occur. For example; what if the walk-in pet required extra time due to its coat condition or had fleas or ticks or even was other dog aggressive.. how is that fair to you or your pet. or even fair to that pet! A grooming session is scheduled for your pet and they get our undivided attention. At Barks & Bows we never administer tranquilizing medication and we seldom use muzzles. If a dog needs muzzled for any part of the grooming we will do so but not for more than 10 minutes. If we cannot accomplish the task in that time frame we will not complete it. We will not groom a pet that we feel is a danger to itself or our staff. A dog that thrashes, bites and tries repeatedly to escape can easily hurt itself and will be better served in a veterinarian office. Yesterday’s visitors brought all the smiles, wiggles, and charm we love. Each pup enjoyed their one‑on‑one, appointment‑only spa time and left looking (and feeling) their very best. We loved having them in the salon!

A healthy coat starts inside your pup. Making sure your dog drinks enough water each day keeps their skin hydrated, reduces itching, and helps prevent matting — especially in fluffy breeds. If your pup isn’t a big drinker, try offering fresh water more often or adding a splash of low‑sodium broth for encouragement.

Healthy skin = happier grooms and shinier coats.
