The showcase features the work of a cooperative creative practice exploring textiles through home décor, accessories/jewelry, and clothing. Each collection highlights the possibilities of upcycling, transformation, and creative expression.

Everyone Deserves Dignity

At 8:00 this morning, I saw a man standing on the corner. The store is closed today, but he told me he was hungry and trying to hold out until tomorrow.

No one should have to “hold out” when they’re hungry.

So we fed him. Then we gave him a job to do. Because food is important, but dignity matters too. Everyone deserves the opportunity to contribute, to be seen, and to be treated with respect.

This is what community looks like. Sometimes it’s not about programs or policies. Sometimes it’s simply seeing a need and responding with compassion.

Some mornings hit harder than others.

Today I stood in the store throwing away over $500 worth of expired baby formula. Cases of it. Money in the trash. And honestly… it hurts. Because every dollar matters when you’re trying to keep a community-centered store alive while also trying to help families survive.

People see the shelves, the produce, the meats, the smiles, the “we accept EBT” signs. What they don’t always see are the losses small neighborhood stores take trying to make sure our communities have access to food close to home. Sometimes we carry products hoping families will need them, and sometimes they expire before they ever reach the babies they were meant for.

But even on the hard days, we open the doors anyway.
Because somebody still needs milk.
Somebody still needs fresh greens.
Somebody still needs affordable meat.
Somebody still needs kindness.

So today, if you can, shop small. Share this post. Tell somebody about the store. Every purchase truly helps keep this vision alive.

Sometimes people come into the store and notice random meats tucked in the back of the freezer or hidden in different spots and ask about them. ❤️

Truth is… those are emergency meats that Ms. Lisa buys whenever I find incredible bargain prices. I’ll stock up on as much as I can because around here, you never know when someone will need help.

You’d be surprised by the number of calls we get from families facing food insecurity, unexpected crises, loss of income, illness, or even a death in the family. And when those moments happen, Freeman Family Farm tries our best to respond with compassion and dignity.

That’s the difference between us and a typical grocery store.

We don’t just sell food.
We CARE about people.

Our community knows that sometimes all it takes is one small act of kindness, one bag of groceries, or one pack of meat to help someone make it through a hard week. ❤️

Sheet pan roasted chicken and veggies—done in one pan, no stress, real food.

Tonight’s lineup (all easy, all here at the store):

* Chicken breast — $5.32
* Broccoli — FREE

* Olive oil + roasted garlic - garlic FREE
