This is the dad to the couple Honduran Milk snakes I have left from this season. Extreme Hypo Tangerine Vanishing Pattern, and him and his girl throw Abberants all the time. He’s roughly 6ft so these babies have the potential to be a big impressive Milk snake, not the jumpy little muskers that many people think them to be.

I really don’t post these enough, but they’re one of my favorites. Orthriophis taeniurus ridleyi, Ridley’s Cave Racer. This one is from the Cameron Highlands.

These are beautiful snakes that have adapted to living in complete darkness in caves full of bats and their guano, with air quality so poor that humans can’t last more than an hour without a full face mask. Evolving in that environment has made them an extremely hardy species that are perfectly suited to captivity.

They hang out in rock outcrops and sn**ch bats and birds out of the air. This style of hunting makes them a very visual species. Every time I enter my snake room they always come out to watch what I’m doing. And when I open their enclosures they crawl right up onto my arm, ready to explore. Just such a cool species to keep and interact with.

Some of the snakes from my Uganda Green x T- Albino pairing that hatched in early spring. This combo makes some interesting colors that don’t seem to come through well in photos.

At a passing glance your eye just tells you browns or tans, but in person they’re this butterscotch-y or warm bronze with green tinting here and there. Their eyes are copper, green, and gold. Not as iridescent as Blacks, but enough to still keep it interesting. Even though these are just a genetic step toward making Uganda T- Butters, they’re still very attractive in their own right.

RIP Steve Irwin! 20 years ago today we lost a legend. INSANE that it’s been that long already. He had a huge impact on pretty much every reptile nerd I know. No matter what someone is into, I’m always super stoked when people share their passions and Steve was one of the most passionate guys that ever lived.
