Our is Axl. There is no adoption fee for Pet of the Week to approved homes.

Axl is 10 lbs and 11 years young, looking for his forever home. He is on heart medication and recently had a dental. He loves socializing and going for walks. He gets along with other dogs and enjoys the dog park, but not good with cats. He can resource guard so if you have other pets in the home, feeding separately is recommended.

To inquire about adopting Axl, please send an email to [email protected].

To make a tax-deductible donation towards his care, please visit www.paypal.me/UOH or Venmo -hoperescue

Another happy adoption in the books. Maui Vacation didn’t get to the “Adoption” album because her foster mom fell in love with her instantly. After a few setbacks Maui was finally able to get a much needed dental.

Happy Adoption Day little girl.

Dogs are dying every single day in shelters across our state.

Not because they are sick. Not because they are aggressive. Not because they have done anything wrong.

Many are being euthanized simply because there is no space.

This crisis was created by people—dogs left behind when families move, dogs never spayed or neutered, dogs abandoned and left to roam, and dogs surrendered when life becomes difficult. A small number are strays whose families never found them, or beloved pets whose owners passed away with no one able to take them in.

The reality is heartbreaking.

But there is something you can do.

We desperately need foster homes. Fostering saves lives. It gives a dog a safe place to stay while they wait for a permanent family, and it opens a kennel space so another life can be saved.

If you cannot foster, please share. Then share again. Post on Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, TikTok, and anywhere animal lovers gather. Every share helps these dogs reach someone who may be able to help.

Doing nothing changes nothing.

Will you foster? Will you share? Will you help us give these dogs a chance? We are located in Northern CA.

Their lives depend on people stepping up. Email us at [email protected]

‼️ Throwback Thursday is back!!!! ‼️

This week we have Lars who was Chopstick Utensil with UOH. Chopstick is now 15 yrs old and was adopted from us about 5 years ago. He had just come home from a dental at his vet so he’s pretty groggy in this photo.

Thank you for sharing and adopting. If you have adopted an animal from us in the past, feel free to send us photos with a little bit of how he or she is doing. If they have passed away, we would love to honor them as well. Email pictures to [email protected]

As you scroll through Facebook today, you’ve likely seen the heartbreaking reality of the animal welfare crisis affecting our country—especially here in California, where our rescue has helped save hundreds of animals from neglect, abandonment, and euthanasia.

Over the past few years, the number of homeless and abandoned pets has continued to rise, while shelters and rescues struggle with severe overcrowding. Many California shelters are operating far beyond their intended capacity, creating an urgent need for foster homes and adopters. (rivco.org)

We are desperately searching for compassionate foster families willing to open their hearts and homes to a dog in need. Fostering saves lives. It gives frightened animals a safe place to land while they wait for their forever families.

If you can find it in your heart to help save even one animal, please email us at [email protected].

One foster home can make all the difference. One “yes” can save a life.

Please share this post and help us reach the people who can make a difference. Together, we can give these animals the second chance they deserve. ❤️🐾

St. Lucia may be small in size, but she has a personality that fills the room. Like many thoughtful cats, she prefers to take her time getting comfortable in new surroundings. She likes to observe, assess, and decide that everything is safe before fully letting her guard down. Once she does, however, she transforms into an affectionate, devoted companion who wants to be close to her people.

When St. Lucia chooses you as her person, you'll know it. She loves curling up nearby, soaking up attention, and rewarding her favorite humans with loud purrs and endless biscuits. She has a sweet, loving nature and forms strong bonds with the people she trusts.

St. Lucia also has a playful side that keeps life entertaining. She is energetic, curious, and always ready for a game, whether that means chasing toys with her family or inventing her own adventures around the house. She can happily entertain herself, but she also enjoys interactive play and the attention that comes with it.

In her foster home, St. Lucia has done well with small dogs and is comfortable around multiple people. Her experience with large dogs and other cats is currently unknown, so any introductions should be made thoughtfully and at her pace. Given time and patience, she continues to grow more confident and secure.

St. Lucia is approximately 12 years old, spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, free of parasites, and has had senior bloodwork completed. She recently underwent a dental procedure where her remaining teeth were extracted, meaning no future dental bills for her adopter. Even better, she is eating with more enthusiasm than ever now that her mouth is pain-free.

When St. Lucia first came into rescue, she was severely underweight and clearly had not been receiving the care she deserved. Since then, she has blossomed. With proper nutrition, veterinary care, and love, she has regained a healthy body condition and is now absolutely stunning.

She has excellent house manners, reliably uses her litter box, and enjoys both wet and dry food. St. Lucia is looking for a family that will understand her need for a little patience at first and appreciate the incredibly rewarding companion she becomes once she settles in.

If you're looking for a cat with equal parts sweetness, personality, playfulness, and devotion, St. Lucia may be the perfect addition to your family. Once she trusts you, she'll be your loyal shadow, your biscuit-making champion, and your constant companion.

These three lovely girls recently lost the only home they’ve ever known, and we’re hoping to bring them into Umbrella of Hope so they can stay safe.

We want to help them, but we can only do so if we have committed foster homes ready to welcome them. Fostering saves lives and gives animals a soft place to land during a difficult transition.

If you have room in your heart and home to foster, please reach out. With your help, we can give these girls the second chance they deserve.

When the shelter reached out and asked if we could help this injured senior boy, our answer was an immediate YES.

Meet the invincible Nelson Toothpaste. At 10 years young, this handsome boy went through what most have not. BUT, despite everything he’s been through, he has been nothing but sweet, gentle, and grateful. It is suspected that he was attacked by another dog, leaving him with a large puncture wound along with several bumps and bruises. Thankfully, our veterinarian is optimistic and believes he will make a full recovery with proper care and time.

What amazes us most is his spirit. Even while recovering from painful injuries, he has remained a perfect gentleman—kind, patient, and trusting with everyone he meets.

Now it’s our turn to help him heal.

If you would like to contribute toward his medical care and recovery, any donation, no matter the size, will make a difference. Your support helps us provide the veterinary treatment, medications, and comfort he needs as he begins his journey to a brighter future.
