🐍 Trail Talk: Snakes in the Forest 🐍

One of the many things that makes riding through the forests around Pisgah Forest Stables so special is the chance to see local wildlife—including the occasional snake.

Snakes are a natural part of our mountain ecosystem. Most snakes you may encounter are nonvenomous and prefer to avoid people and horses, except for our black snake Monty who makes an occasional friendly appearance

If you spot one on the trail:

• Give it plenty of space.
• Never approach or attempt to move it.
• Stay calm and listen to your guide.

Snakes help keep rodent populations under control, which helps maintain a healthy forest environment.

🐻 A rare sighting on the trail yesterday!

Seeing a bear during one of our rides doesn’t happen very often, which made this encounter extra special. One of the many things we love about riding through Pisgah is never knowing what amazing piece of nature you might get to experience along the way.

The bear kept its distance, we kept ours, and everyone got a front-row seat to a memorable moment in the forest.
