BIG NEWS out of the Grandstands last night! Our very own Ag Olympics team took home the gold hardware from the Pipestone County Fair! 🎡🏆

Jack, Zach, Becca, and Dr. Lexi fought all the way to the finish, earning them the 1st place title! 🥇

Summer heat can become dangerous fast. Dogs, cats, horses, and livestock are all at risk for heat exhaustion.

Watch for:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Weakness
🐾 Stumbling or collapse
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea

💧 Keep fresh water available, provide plenty of shade, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, and never leave pets in a parked vehicle.

Remember, livestock can also suffer from heat stress. Ensure they have access to shade, clean water, and good airflow, especially during periods of high heat and humidity.

If you suspect your animal is suffering from heat exhaustion, move them to a cool area and contact Windy Ridge Veterinary Clinic right away. Early treatment can save lives.

🚨 Stay Alert: New World Screwworm Awareness 🚨

While there have been no confirmed cases of New World screwworm in Minnesota, it’s important for livestock owners to stay vigilant—especially if you’re traveling to livestock shows or bringing animals home from southern states.

This serious parasite can cause severe wounds and illness, but early detection and prompt treatment are key. Regularly inspect your animals for unusual wounds, swelling, foul odors, or signs of irritation, and contact your veterinarian right away if you suspect a problem.

Preventative treatments after travel may be recommended depending on your situation. Our team is happy to discuss the best options for your herd.

🐾🌟 July Featured Pets of the Month: Kobe & Jade! 🌟🐾

Meet Kobe and Jade, the beloved pups of Bri Borman!

Kobe, a 6-year-old Black Lab, is always ready to welcome Bri home. Whether he’s waiting patiently by the car door or greeting her with his signature hip bump at the front door, he’s happiest when his people are nearby. He’s also a big fan of snacks and will gladly help clean up anything that hits the floor—unless it’s a vegetable!

Jade, a 2-year-old Beagle mix, has a slightly different approach to greetings. After a long day of patrolling the property and keeping watch for critters, she’s usually catching up on her beauty sleep. If she’s awake, you might get a quick sniff hello before she’s off to her next important task—or nap!

When summer arrives, Kobe is all about Sunday Funday. Swimming in the pool, soaking up the sun on the deck, and riding around the farm in the Ranger are some of his favorite activities. Jade is happy to leave the swimming to Kobe while she focuses on sunbathing and keeping the property safe from any suspicious critters. It’s hard work being a guard dog!

❤️ A few fun facts about these two:

• Kobe is their “bionic boy,” having successfully recovered from two knee replacements. Despite that, he still runs around the farm like he owns the place—because he pretty much does!

• Kobe was named after basketball legend Kobe Bryant by the family’s basketball-loving kiddo and is one of the most gentle, easygoing dogs they’ve ever owned.

• Jade was rescued all the way from Alabama and is a mix of seven different breeds—including a little Chihuahua! Her family lovingly calls her their “Alabama Tornado” because she’s equal parts wild child and cuddle bug.

• Jade’s favorite treat is an ice cube, especially if Kobe is getting one too!

Together, Kobe and Jade balance each other perfectly—one a laid-back, pool-loving gentleman and the other a spirited little farm watchdog with a big personality.
