🐾 August Featured Pet of the Month 🐾

Meet our August Featured Pet, Tucker!

Tucker will be 11 years old this November and is always waiting at the door with a wagging tail to welcome Denise and Randy home.

His favorite treats are little bones, Greenies, and if he’s lucky…a little bit of cake! 🎂

During the summer, Tucker enjoys going for walks, relaxing on the deck while watching people and cars go by, rolling in the grass, and going for car rides.

What makes Tucker truly special is his incredible strength. Despite battling IMHA, sinus issues, and having several teeth removed, he continues to face each day with a happy heart. His resilience inspires his family, and through it all, he never stops sharing unconditional love.

Thank you, Denise and Randy, for sharing Tucker with us! Help us celebrate this sweet, tough boy by leaving him some love in the comments.

☀️ Beat the Heat – Protect Your Pets & Livestock! 🐾🐄🐴

Summer heat can become dangerous fast. Dogs, cats, horses, and livestock are all at risk for heat exhaustion.

Watch for:
🐾 Excessive panting
🐾 Drooling
🐾 Weakness
🐾 Stumbling or collapse
🐾 Vomiting or diarrhea

💧 Keep fresh water available, provide plenty of shade, avoid strenuous activity during the hottest part of the day, and never leave pets in a parked vehicle.

Remember, livestock can also suffer from heat stress. Ensure they have access to shade, clean water, and good airflow, especially during periods of high heat and humidity.

If you suspect your animal is suffering from heat exhaustion, move them to a cool area and contact Windy Ridge Veterinary Clinic right away. Early treatment can save lives.

🚨 Stay Alert: New World Screwworm Awareness 🚨

While there have been no confirmed cases of New World screwworm in Minnesota, it’s important for owners to stay vigilant—especially if you’re traveling to livestock shows or bringing animals home from southern states.

This serious parasite can cause severe wounds and illness, but early detection and prompt treatment are key. Regularly inspect your animals for unusual wounds, swelling, foul odors, or signs of irritation, and contact your veterinarian right away if you suspect a problem.

Preventative treatments after travel may be recommended depending on your situation. Our team is happy to discuss the best options for your animals.
