Pets may not be able to say when something feels wrong, but they often show it through small changes. A shift in appetite, energy, behavior, bathroom habits, movement, or mood can sometimes be a sign that they need extra attention.

Pet owners, tell us in the comments:
What change do you notice first when your pet isn’t feeling like themselves?

Is it less energy, not eating, hiding, acting clingy, bathroom changes, or something else?

Noticing these subtle signs early can help support your pet’s health, comfort, and overall well-being.

Next week we are celebrating National Veterinary Technician Week! We wanted to take a moment to share a little about Technicians and what they do.
To be a Registered Veterinary Technician in NC, they must graduate from a program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association and pass their board exams.

While exact duties vary state to state, Techs can usually be found:
• in the laboratory, collecting samples and running tests
• in the exam room, providing education and support to owners and veterinarians
• in surgery, managing anesthesia and pain control
• in radiology and ultrasound, taking images
• in dentistry, performing oral assessments and cleanings
• in management, keeping hospitals running smoothly
• in every aspect of veterinary medicine, teaching and guiding future generations of veterinary professionals

Our Tech and tech students are working hard to make sure you and your pet have the best experience at Friendship Animal Hospital!

A daily walk can do more than help dogs burn energy. Walks support physical health, mental stimulation, bonding, and healthy routines.

Whether it’s a short stroll or a longer walk, consistent movement can help dogs stay active, engaged, and happy.

As pets age, changes in movement can happen gradually. Slower walks, difficulty standing, stiffness, or hesitation with stairs may be signs that a senior pet needs extra support.

Paying attention to mobility changes can help keep older pets comfortable, active, and cared for as they age.
