🐎 What People See vs. What They Don't 🐎

People often see the peaceful moments.

The horse grazing quietly.
The lesson running smoothly.
The calm atmosphere.
The beautiful photographs.

What they don't always see is everything happening behind the scenes.

The early mornings.
The long days.
The messages answered between tasks.
The plans adjusted at the last minute.
The responsibilities carried long after everyone else has gone home.

Because working with horses is rarely just about horses.

It's about people.

It's about building trust.
Creating confidence.
Supporting someone through challenges they may never speak about openly.

It's about staying steady when others need reassurance.
Remaining patient when emotions run high.
And continuing to show up, even on the days when your own energy feels stretched thin.

Yet somehow, amidst the pressure, the uncertainty, and the endless demands...

We still strive to create a space where horses and humans can find connection, growth, and peace.

That quiet dedication often goes unnoticed.

Horses are amazing! 🤩

Not everything you’re carrying is easy to talk about.

Stress. Burnout. Big life changes. Things that just feel… heavy.

This summer, we’re opening a small number of sessions where you can spend time with a horse in a guided, supportive environment. You don’t need any experience. You don’t even need to know what to say. It’s about slowing down, noticing what’s going on inside you, and having space to work through it in a different way.

Exactly! 👍. Well said!

Most of the people who keep horses safe, sound and sane will never be famous for it.

They won’t have sponsors.
They won’t have glossy photos.
They won’t be invited into elite circles or VIP boxes with fancy hats and champagne 🍾.

But they will notice when something is slightly off.
They’ll clock a change in behaviour before it becomes a problem.
They’ll get up before work at 5am to go to yard.
They’ll rearrange their lives around feed times, farrier visits, physio bills and vet calls.

They’ll choose welfare over ego, again and again.

And none of that comes with rosettes or trophies 🏆

Equestrian culture talks a lot about success, but the sport itself survives on quiet, unglamorous care most of the time.

On people who show up when no one is watching.
On consistency, patience, and a kind of attention that doesn’t photograph well , usually capturing images akin to something captioned " Feral Yard Goblin".

If you’ve ever felt like you “don’t really count” because you’re not competing, not flashy, not backed, not winning… this is your reminder.

You count. You count to your horses.

The horses know who keeps them safe.
They know who listens.
They know who shows up on the boring days.

That matters more than any rosette or competition.

Facts!

I accidentally replaced executive functioning with a 🐎.

Having horses when you’re neurodivergent is basically running a very high-budget wellbeing retreat for yourself and only realising halfway through the year when you're seemingly bankrupt.

You think you’re buying a horse........
What you actually buy is an external hard drive for your nervous system.

People love to say horses need routine.
Mine seem perfectly content with ✨vibes✨.
I arrive at wildly inconsistent times like a feral yard goblin and they’re just like,
“Yes. This version of you. We remember.” ⏰🧌

Executive dysfunction is a funny one.
Emails? Ignored for weeks.
A horse staring at you like you’ve personally betrayed them by stopping at three carrots when they know there’s a fourth?
Immediate action. No delays....must provide happiness for giant creature. 👁️🌾

When everything feels too loud, the phone is unbearable and people are… people…
a horse chewing hay is apparently the exact frequency my brain has been searching for. 🙏
The mental buffering wheel finally disappears. 📵🌾

Social battery flat? Perfect.
Horses don’t do small talk.
They’ll stand with you in silence and call it a meaningful interaction. Absolute dream. 🤝 SIGN ME UP.

Hyperfocus sneaks up quietly.
You pop down to “just check them”.
It’s now dark. You’re muddy.
And you’re conducting a full emotional audit of saddle pads and bags of items that once had a purpose. 🔦🫠

And emotional regulation?
They clock your internal chaos before you’ve even turned the engine off.
No judgement.
They just calmly refuse to cooperate until you stop spiralling.
Strong boundaries. Iconic behaviour. 👑

Masking doesn’t land either.
They see straight through it.
“Please stop pretending you’re fine. I can smell the cortisol.” 👃😐

They don’t care if your life’s a mess.
They don’t care if you’re late.
They don’t care if WhatsApp hasn’t seen you for three days.

They care that you show up.
That you’re kind.
And that the hay eventually arrives. 🌾💛

It’s connection.
And that’s exactly what our brains needed all along. 🧠
