It might not seem like it, but Brownie has made progress! She feels safe enough to stretch out in the bed. She will look at people and they can look and talk to her without immediately running away. She willingly touched her nose to my fingers today! And slow, gentle pets don’t have her cowering down.

We were asked to assess a poor doggo named Brownie that came from a hoarding situation and is absolutely petrified of humans. It’s going to be a challenge and it will take time but she’s making some baby steps! Today she was out in the open some and also ate a treat for the first time here!

Lois Lane is making progress already! This morning she was playing and jumping around. She also came up to me on her own for the first time. Excellent progress for a little baby who was so scared and shut down.

Today we welcomed our second foster, Louis Lane! Louis and her brother were dumped in a ditch. Initially with the rescue volunteers she would scream and bite if people tried to touch her because she was so scared. Her brother is progressing but Louis is still very scared. I’ve been letting her sleep off her stress but Merida has been checking in on her and already trying to share things with her! Merida is so amazing at what she does.

Today we are highlighting Merida, the dog half of this operation! Merida is so good at her job that she does it without knowing it! I found out today at daycare that when they have dogs that are unsure about some or all of the other dogs, that Merida is the one that makes friends with them! They are always comfortable around her and the daycare trusts Merida enough to let her do her thing! This is a sign to always give the black dogs a chance! They are statistically less likely to get adopted. Merida had been passed over many times prior to me adopting her. And what a jewel she turned out to be!

Chavo is still looking for his forever home! This boy is SO sweet. He learned respectful play with Merida. He slept nicely in a kennel all night while with us and was getting pretty good at his potty training! He loves pets now and there’s nothing cuter than that nubby tail wag! Not to mention he is so handsome! He was also good with kids and elderly as we exposed him to both. He will make a great companion either as the only dog or with fellow dogs!
