Hi all! Despite the lack of Facebook posts, we are still here at Island Paws, having a blast. Over the last year, I have gotten the opportunity to meet soo many incredible new dogs and was able to spend lots of times with ‘the regulars’. It has been a very busy, eventful year and as usual, I am so incredibly grateful to all who have trusted me to care for and love all your pups. I thought it would be a good time to post my new 2026 vacation times, give some reminders and of course, a photo dump! I have pinned my 2026 schedule to the top of this page. The same information can be found on my website, the front door and the front desk. Just a reminder I am closed next week (12/8-12/14) and reopening on 12/15.
Some quick reminders:
Due to the interruption it causes, PLEASE be mindful of the posted drop off and pick up times and plan accordingly. Typically, my door is locked outside of my lobby hours so that I can focus on the dogs, our routine and cleaning without having to worry about missing someone coming in and stirring up the dogs -some of our friends have become very comfortable here and do not like unannounced visitors.
Please remember when you get your dogs updated on vaccinations, send me a copy of your new records or have your vet email them to [email protected]. Remember, I require Rabies, Distemper and Bordetella. I also recommend the Canine Influenza. This makes booking simpler when I don’t have to chase down vet records the day before your dogs stay.
As some are starting to find, I am not always available to answer my phone….mostly because it is a landline so when we are outside or if I am in the back with the dogs, I do not hear it. The best way to get a hold of me is email or Facebook message. On that note, if you do use the “contact us” option on my website, I do respond to those emails as well but if you do not see a response from me, check your junk/spam folder. My responses via my website are not making it to everyone’s main inbox.
When booking, please remember to let me know your preferred drop off and pickup times. Those are also posted in several locations and are easy to find. I do not need specific times, I just need to know which timeslot to expect you in – Morning or afternoon.
When you send food for boarding, please make sure to send it in smaller containers – preferably no larger than a gallon ice cream pail. I stay consistently full here and have very limited space to store 35 pound bags of food. It is also very difficult to keep some of my more food motivated visitors out of the bags…and they can be very determined.
Daycare families- please remember I require daycare payment within the week. It does not matter to me if you pay at the beginning or the end of the week but if payment for the week is not made, I will have to take you off the schedule until payment is made.
Daycare is booming! However, I am running on very limited space to take drop in daycare dogs so please try to plan ahead and book your daycare spots in advance. I will take last minute bookings where I can but it can be quite difficult to find spots for them.
I sincerely hope everyone has a great holiday season and I am very excited to see what 2026 brings!
