We received some exciting emails this week! ✨
But first - do you prefer a Rough coat or a Smooth coat on your Collie?

Did you know that the gene responsible for that Smooth coat is never recessive?
If your collie is a rough coat he is Rough/Rough (R/R)
But if your Collie is smooth coated he could be Smooth/Rough (S/R) or Smooth/Smooth (S/S).

Now, a smooth coat (with that recessive Rough gene) bred to a rough coat will produce rough and smooth coated puppies. Or 2 smooth Collies (both with recessive Rough genetics) could produce smooth and rough puppies.
However, if you breed a Collie that has 2 copies of that Smooth gene to a Collie with any other coat gene combo all the resulting puppies will have smooth coats!

✨We received Mr. Bright’s genetic testing back from UC Davis! ✨
He has 2 Copies of that lovely Smooth gene. So he can only produce pups that are Smooth coated!

Something about those partially blue eyes haunts me. It’s like studying at a photo of the earth from space- there is always something to notice and marvel at.
And for whatever reason my phone doesn’t like to focus when I try to photograph the beauty of Miss Cinder’s wonderful eyes🤪.

Drop a pic of your Favorite Canine eyes!

Happy Monday!

We had a de-burr and kitten session to kick off our Monday.
And yes, both dog and cat were sitting in my lap. 😆

Well, Bright is living in the limelight this week. Hit that like button for the all star!⭐️ 👍🏼⭐️😃
We had another fun training day at the local flea market and a quick visit to a friend in the nursing home.
Our focus today was polite greetings and he did very well! No jumping was attempted, no excessive “kissing” (aka licking🤪) and as a cherry-on-top one of his new friends recognized him as a Smooth Collie!

Happy Monday!

Today was bath day for Mr. Bright. Poor soul. He is such a quick and willing learner: noble in his efforts to please. But the bath is his arch nemesis. It takes all of his courage to brave the frightening world of tub, though he is all happiness to climb out and shake😂.
I foresee a couple weeks of focused tub training in his future🔮😁 along with ear jail to convince those beautiful ears to behave.

Bright and I enjoyed a good training session at the flea market this morning!

He experienced a train passing by and a flock of geese on the ground nearby for the first time ever and just rolled with it. I am so proud of this youngster.
We practiced all of his commands and made a new friend (everyone is Bright’s friend❤️) but this particular friend gave him lots of pets.

It is such fun taking him out into public and is double the fun training him and him remembering pretty much all of it in public.
