The LTR team had a great Championships! We had a good-sized group, ten horses, so we had the full range of horse show experiences! Congratulations to everyone for doing all of the hard work to qualify and here are some highlights.
Lyndon and Conflorsan started the competition off by winning an Open Intermediate II class but decided that it was best to scratch his championship class to have more time to dedicate to his students. Elisabeth Dewar competed her two geldings who reside on opposite ends of the spectrum. She earned the SWDC Grand Prix Amateur Championship on Don Darling, the SWDC Bronze medal for Intermediate II, and placed third at Grand Prix and Intermediate II for GAIG. Elisabeth also competed her four-year gelding, Samurai SQF, at training level where they picked up top open show ribbons with scores to 70% and placed Fourth in the GAIG Training Level and sixth in the SWDC Championship class. Julie Madriguera competed Debra Nossaman’s pretty Danish mare Fabiola and earned the SWDC Third Level Open Championship and the reserve Championship in the GAIG division with scores to 69%. Julie also earned an open Intermediate II second place, behind Lyndon (rude), on Madoc All Dun and the SWDC Bronze Medal in the Open Intermediate II Championship with Madoc All Dun. Their highlight was earning 6.5 and 7 on the still elusive piaffe! Hilde Fan Seldsum, owned by Tanja Hodges, earned a first place in an open class, the SDWC Bronze Medal in the Second Level Open Championship with a 70%, and placed fourth in the GAIG Championship class in only their third competition together.
Jenna Ursone and her GRP gelding Dance De Luxe earned the SWDC Third Level Open Pony Championship with a 67%. They also earned fourth place in the SWDC Amateur Third Level Championship with a 66% and placed sixth in the GAIG Third level in their first Championships together. Rachel Pennington competed the Hanoverian mare SPS Soraja earning the Bronze Medal in the SWDC Fourth level and fourth in the Prix St George Amateur Championship classes. She also gained more valuable mileage on the Hanoverian mare Francesca SQF. Sarah Samaan competed her Trakehner mare Kiera at Prix St George, placing second in an open show class and earning seventh and ninth place in her Championship classes.

It was a long hot week! We still miss our end of October/beginning of November Championships. Congratulations to everyone, huge thanks to our clients, and huge thanks to Emma Winter and Tegan Pedigo for keeping things running smoothly in the stable. It is a lot of work and these two young ladies did a remarkable job for everyone. And thanks to baby Bridie for being the ultimate distraction and for making excellent progress as the LTR mascot! As always, thanks to HDS for hosting a great Championships and to the Great Southwest Equestrian Center for supporting dressage competition.

The LTR team brought a small group to the Texas Rose Fall Dressage Classic at the beautiful Texas Rose Horse Park last weekend. It was a great weekend, though, in typical horse show fashion, not without challenges! We didn't have time to put up all of the ribbons, but here are the highlights: LTR Trainer Julie Madriguera competed Tanja Hodges' Friesian mare Hilde Fan Seldsum, "Tamina", at second level and won all four classes and the Second level Championship with scores to 72%. Julie also competed Debra Nossamans' Danish Warmblood mare Fabiola at Third level. The pair won two classes and the Third Level Championship as they shook the rust off after six months away from the competition arena. Lyndon competed his Holsteniner gelding Conflorsan at Intermediate II, picking up three blue ribbons and scoring to 62% at this new level. LTR assistant Emma Winter competed the Dutch Warmblood mare Serafina, owned by Pat Shell at fourth level. This was Emma's fourth level debut and the first time for Serafina to compete in several years. The duo improved in each test and earned Emma's first score towards her Silver medal. Thanks to the Texas Rose Horse Park for continuing to host and support dressage competition and to our staff and barn family.

The LTR Team had a great weekend at the Houston Dressage Society Laborious Days competition! It was very hot but all of the horses made a good showing throughout the levels. Congratulations to all and here are some highlights from the team. Elisabeth Dewar had a busy weekend competing in the Grand Prix on Don Darling and Training Level on Samurai SQF. She picked up blue ribbons in the Grand Prix with scores to 64% and earned the Amateur Reserve Championship each day. On Samurai SQF, her four year old Hanoverian gelding, she earned second and third place at Training level and her qualifying scores for championships in their first competition together. Carola Amner and her gelding Stay Cool also competed Training level Amateur and earned first and fourth place ribbons and pair of qualifying scores. Jenna Ursone and her GRP gelding Dance De Luxe earned 66 and 67% at Third level, winning both of her classes and the Pony High Point Award each day! LTR Trainer Julie Madriguera competed her own Madoc All Dun at Intermediate II and Hilde Fan Seldom, a Friesian mare owned by Tanja Hodges, at Second Level. "Chyme" earned first place with a 63% in Intermediate II and "Tamina" earned third place each day, and a pair of qualifying scores, in her first competition with Julie. Lyndon competed his own Conflorsan in the FEI Test of Choice and earned first place in the Intermediate II test! It was also the first competition for our baby Birdie! Wrangling her for the photo might have been the biggest challenge of the competition for our excellent support team of Jenna and Emma. She has a way to go before she can fill Simon's "shoes" as the official awards ambassador for team LTR but she has her first competition under her belt. Thanks to HDS and the GSWEC for hosting a great competition.

The LTR Team had a great start to the 2024 competition season at the Emerald Classic in Katy, TX. We brought five horses that contested the levels from Training to Intermediate II! Congratulations to Elisabeth Dewar and Don Darling on winning both of their Amateur Intermediate II classes. The duo scored to 65% with plenty of room for improved scores. Julie Madriguera competed Debra Nossaman's Danish mare Fabiola. They won all three of the Open Third level classes to 70% in Fabi's first US competition. Julie also debuted her own Madoc All Dun at Intermediate II. Jenna Ursone returned to the show arena after a long break with her Dance De Luxe at Third level. They shook the rust off and are ready to have a great season! Virginia Beshirs and Belinda made great progress in their training level test and are ready to keep this momentum for the upcoming shows. A big thank you to Marilyn Kulifay for organizing this competition and the Great Southwest Equestrian Center for hosting the dressage crowd once again. I am sharing some nice photos from the exceptional Kristie Scholten Photography.

The theme for the Championships this year was "board games". Rachel Pennington and Caryn Bloom worked together to create a Clue themed tack stall display and an online Clue game! We were all able to participate in different ways and it was a lot of fun! Here are some of the mugshots of our prime suspects!

It was a long and great week. We are very proud of all the horses and riders. Between the move to our new property in the spring and finishing construction projects over the unforgiving summer it has been a challenging year. We are thankful for the opportunity to do the work that we love and to have such dedicated clients and hard-working staff. Special thanks to Emma Winter for all of her hard work and to Nisse and Tegan Pedigo for signing on to help care for all of us. Thanks to the Houston Dressage Society for organizing another great Championship competition and to the Great Southwest Equestrian Center for supporting dressage.
