Roxy is the best girl. She is a Great Pyrenees that lives with our goats. She stays with the moms while they are kidding and takes the best care of the babies. She lets them use her as a jungle gym and is never cross with them. We have not lost any goats to predators on her watch. Good guardian dogs are hard to come by and she is one of the best.

Raspberry finally decided to have her twin boys. They weighed in at 9.04lbs and 9.92lbs. Hadley and Emmett named them Peter and Matthew. They are almost 2 weeks behind the other kids and still close to the same size they are now.

Our last first freshener, Rosie, had a pair of doelings last night while we were at church. She showed no signs of labor so we felt comfortable leaving for a couple hours. She proved us wrong and already had them cleaned up by the time we got home. She’s a great momma. We have one more doe we are waiting on to kid then we hopefully have 2-3 week weeks before the next are due.

Snowdrop, our 3rd first freshener this year, gave us a lovely buck/doe twin pair. Snow drop is a lamancha cross who has little elf ears and Jonah, our buck, is a nubian with long pendulous ears. Their buckling took after mom and their doeling took after dad. I love the variety of colors and features we get with our mixed herd. We still have 2 more to kid any minute and a few that will kid over the next couple weeks.

Our little IPPs are so active! We love watching them run around the farm. We have one little one that seems to have been stepped on and has a bit of a limp. Our wonderful livestock vet, Dr.Saintsing, from Countryside Mobile Veterinary Services, will be by soon to get a look at everyone on the farm for their yearly checkups and take a closer look at this little girl.

Our first two kids have officially hit the ground for the year!

Both were singles from first fresheners, which always keeps things interesting.

Rainbow kicked things off yesterday morning with a little doeling. Emmett named her Tinkerbelle, and she’s already living up to the name.

Violet decided to wait until later in the day and then went big—her doeling was massive and needed a lot of assistance making her debut. Nothing like a little farm excitement to keep us on our toes.

Now we’re on baby watch with two more first fresheners due any day, Raspberry (our seasoned pro) who looks like she might go any minute, and a few more lined up over the next three weeks. It’s about to get busy around here.

Meet Eugene 🤍 Update: He has been placed!

This sweet 8-week-old Golden Retriever is still looking for his forever home. He had a family lined up, but due to unexpected health issues on their end, they’re no longer able to bring him home—so he’s still here with us.

Eugene is AKC registered, microchipped, and has been vet checked. He will come with a one-year health guarantee. He’s a happy, loving boy with that classic Golden personality—friendly, gentle, and eager to be part of a family.

We’ve got new babies on the farm!

Cherry had other plans and decided the farrowing pen just wasn’t her style. She broke out and made her way back in the pasture to the wood line farthest away from the barn to have her piglets on her own terms.

Farm life keeps us on our toes, but we wouldn’t have it any other way 🤍
