We had an unexpected and heartbreaking surprise during morning chores today. We found our beautiful Ella had miscarried her precious baby boy.

We aren’t sure exactly what happened, but sadly, he was born sleeping. The volunteers who found him immediately tried to revive him, but we believe he had already passed away in utero.

As we looked at him, one thing was certain—he was absolutely beautiful. And in so many ways, he looked just like his mama. Our sweet Spirit truly was his mother’s twin.

Ella is understandably grieving, and thankfully, she has a wonderful friend by her side. Lainey has been staying close to Ella, offering her comfort and companionship as she navigates this heartbreaking loss.

Loss is never easy, especially when it comes unexpectedly. Please keep our sweet Ella, Lainey, our volunteers, and everyone at Happy Tails Haven in your prayers as we process the loss of this precious little boy.

Rest peacefully, sweet baby. You were loved before we ever had the chance to meet you.

Good morning! We want to congratulate Caitlin Dorsey for winning the name the baby donkey contest. Baby's name is Plot Twist...Petey for short. Catlin explained that since baby was a surprise for us, it was a twist in the plot our story with his mama, Alley. And on we go! Thanks Caitlin!

🐴💪🏼 AN UPDATE ON NEWT & FOREST! 💪🏼🐴

When Newt and Forest first came to us in April, getting—and keeping—good body condition was a challenge. As senior boys, their nutritional needs are a little different, and we wanted to find something that would help them maintain healthy weight and build muscle while supporting their overall condition.
