Gentle giants. Our first breed we got to supplement as a meat bird. Roosters will reach 7-10lbs.

We have 3 boys available if anyone is looking for some great meat birds to process this summer. If not we will be hatching this breed bi-weekly if you are also looking for pullets.

❄️Wishing yall a Happy Holidays, God Jul, and Merry Christmas from Edelweiss Homestead.❄️

I hope all our friends and family are staying warm and safe. Alot of extra work this weekend with lows of 7F and negative windchills. Alot of our birds are locked up, some in the garage. Looking forward to temperatures going back up next week.

I am Pretty sure I lost my garden already… but the benefit to these freezing temperatures are knowing now your strengths and weakeness. And how to improve on failures.

Will you keep a stock of extra buckets in the garage now? Maybe you learned a trick to keep water from freezing? Maybe you can write out a winter prep list and to do’s as a reminder on how to deal with these situations. Whatever it maybe, you now have gained valuable knowledge to execute a better system for next time.

This is just Gods reminder to us that he is in control and Nature rules above everything.
It is time to be grateful for our comforts and each other as we work hard to keep our animals alive and warm.

How feeding 52 meat birds (Freedom Rangers) looks like in the morning in our modified brooder tower.

We have been loving the ability to grow our own food. Excited to try these compared to the Cornish X!
