For the months of September and October, Withers + Whiskers won't be keeping your tips.

Yup, you read that right.

Every year, the American Heart Association puts on a beach ride in Myrtle Beach. Thousands of horses and riders come from all across the country to ride and fund-raise for the American Heart Association. This event is near and dear to my heart, and so for the months of September and October, all tips received by Withers + Whiskers will go to the AHA to help them reach their fundraising goal of $500,000. It was an honor to give little Mr. Toby his very first mini-groom!

What is the focus during a puppy's first appointment?
🐾 Introducing all my equipment — Toby wasn't sure about a lot of the new and scary stuff I use, but a gentle introduction helped him warm up.
🐾 Figuring out potential problem areas — for instance, we learned that Toby has a BIG fear of the dryer.
🐾 Coming up with a game plan — I talked with Toby's owner about how we can address his fear of the dryer, plus some exercises that will help Toby get used to being handled

I played chicken with the rain all afternoon yesterday, and eventually the rain won -- so unfortunately I wasn't able to get any pictures of Buttercup. However, I still had so much fun getting to groom Buttercup and Sherlock! (Who, I must add, was one of the most well behaved doodles I have ever groomed!)

We are beyond thrilled to share that thanks to our community’s incredible, overwhelming response, all of our dogs are safe.

We understand hearing the words at “risk of euthanasia” is incredibly hard and trust us it’s just as hard for us to say, but the heartbreaking reality is that we cannot save animals without being transparent with you about how dire the situation is. Your overwhelming response is proof that when our community knows there’s a crisis you will not let these animals down.

While we are celebrating this massive win, please remember there are always more animals in need of foster, adopters, and advocates. Thank you for being your safety net we couldn’t do this without you. 🫶🏼

⚠️Extended Hours⚠️

We are beyond out of space and we need the community's help NOW.

We have taken in over 100 dogs this month and have only had 35 adoptions. Every possible kennel is doubled up. Dogs are living in offices. More dogs are arriving every day.

If we cannot clear space immediately, we will be forced to make the devastating choice to euthanize healthy, adoptable dogs. We cannot avoid this without YOUR HELP!

We will be open until 7 tonight to do adoptions and fosters for anyone available to help. We open at 10am again tomorrow.

Information on the dogs at highest risk of euthanasia will be in the comments.
