🚨🐾 MEET LISA: SHE’S NOT JUST A PRETTY FACE! 😈❤️

She’s got the looks, the brains, the charm… and a tiny little wild side that occasionally makes you question who’s actually in charge. 🤣

Lisa is a 3-month-old puppy we’re guessing is a Belgian Malinois/Terrier mix. And before you fall head over heels for that adorable face, WE NEED TO TALK. 👀

Lisa is NOT the puppy for everyone. She’s smart, energetic, determined, and occasionally operates like a tiny four-legged tornado equipped with razor blades for teeth. And YES, she knows how to use them. 🦈😂

And those EARS?! 😍 Apparently, even THEY get tired of her nonsense. Occasionally, one just flops halfway down like it’s officially clocked out for the day. We get it, little ear. WE GET IT. 🤣

Lisa came to us as a stray. She’s already been there, done that, and didn’t even get the T-shirt. What she DID arrive with were some less-than-adorable puppy behaviors that need guidance, patience, and consistency.

Thankfully, she’s been doing well in foster! But she needs someone who understands that training doesn’t stop when the cute puppy comes home.

🐾 THE GOOD STUFF? There’s plenty!

❤️ She knows SIT and has pretty impressive recall for her age!
🐕 Walks nicely on a leash.
🏠 Crate trained, although her baby bladder still requires a potty trip or two overnight.
🎾 LOVES toys, chasing balls, and playing!
🥰 Absolutely adores being held, snuggled, and loved on.
🐶 Does well with tolerant larger dogs who can handle her enthusiasm and appropriately teach her some manners.

🐈 AND THE CATS? Well… that’s complicated. 🤣

She’s been living with cats in foster. If they run, she chases. If they tell her to knock it off, she generally gets the message.

From THAT cat.

The others? Apparently, those rules haven’t been communicated to the entire feline population. 🙄

Lisa has a definite prey drive, so any home with cats would require careful management and continued training.

🚨 NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART.

Lisa needs an experienced, confident, consistent adopter who can set boundaries, redirect unwanted behavior, and teach her what’s expected using fair, positive training.

She’s NOT a first-time puppy owner’s starter kit. And she’s definitely not a puppy we’re recommending as a child’s pet.

We don’t want to see Lisa back at the shelter six months from now because those cute puppy antics have turned into much bigger problems.

She deserves someone who will put in the work NOW so she can become the incredible dog she’s capable of being.

Because underneath that mischievous little exterior is an affectionate, intelligent sweetheart with SO much potential. ❤️

And the right person? They’re going to have one heck of a dog.

Meet Lola! This adorable 1-year-old Smooth-Haired Dachshund mix is 37 pounds of sweetness, snuggles, and personality! ❤️

Lola has a few simple requests for her forever home: a comfy spot to cuddle, someone to love, and preferably a weather forecast that doesn’t include rain or cold temperatures! ☔🥶🤣

Our shelter pups got to show off their spooky side last night at Witches & Wags on Canal Street! 🧹🐕🎃

They got all dressed up, strutted their stuff, enjoyed some fresh air, and took a little break from shelter life! And just LOOK at these adorable faces! 😍🐾

The crowd may have been small, but these pups were still the stars of the show! 🌟❤️

🍬💕 SUGAR, SPICE & EVERYTHING NICE… MEET CANDY! 💕🍬

Some dogs are just as sweet as their names, and Candy is living proof! 🥹❤️

This beautiful 1½-year-old Labrador Retriever mix didn’t have the sweetest start. She was rescued by a kindhearted foster while dodging cars on Highway 11! Thankfully, someone stopped to help, kept her safe until her surrender appointment, and gave her a chance at a better life. ❤️

Now Candy is spayed, safe, and ready for the best part of her story… a forever home where she can be loved, spoiled, and never have to worry about being alone again. 🏡💕

And y’all, this girl is an absolute SWEETHEART! 🍭

🐾 FIXED for Life Program Update! 🐾

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we work through applications for our FREE spay/neuter program!

We have received approximately 250 applications so far, and the first 171 have been reviewed. Here’s where things stand:

✅ 72 applications have been approved! These applicants will receive an email notification. Vouchers are still being prepared and will be emailed separately once completed.

❌ 67 applications are being declined due to incorrect or insufficient proof-of-residency documentation. These applicants will also receive an email explaining the issue.

📧 Most applicants in this first group can expect an email update this week. Please be sure to check your inbox and spam/junk folders!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM:

🐾 Due to limited appointment availability with participating local veterinarians, we anticipate being able to approve approximately 70 applications per month.

🐾 Applications will continue to be reviewed and selected over the next several months until program funding is depleted. Not everyone will receive a notification at the same time.

🐾 Applications are still being accepted! If you haven’t applied, you can review eligibility requirements and submit your application through our website:
