Meet Alastor & Ollie ❤️🐾

These sweet bonded brothers are searching for a new forever home after losing the only family they’ve ever known. Their owner was hospitalized and could no longer care for them, and now these boys are hoping for a second chance together.

Alastor and Ollie are 8 years old, born on 1/25/18.

Alastor and Ollie are:
• Neutered
• Microchipped
• Vaccinated
• Heartworm negative
• Kid friendly
• Cat friendly
• Toy lovers
• Know “sit”
• Bonded and MUST stay together

🐶 Alastor — 76 lbs
🐶 Ollie — 50 lbs

**We also want to be completely transparent so we can find these boys the right home. Alastor and Ollie were recently returned. We were told they experience some separation anxiety and should be kenneled when left home alone. We were also told they are not fully house trained. Ollie is especially attached to Alastor and does not like being separated from him.

It is important to note that while in their foster home, they used a doggy door and did not have issues with accidents. Their foster family was also home much of the time, so the separation anxiety concerns described to us were not observed there. Every home and routine is different, and we want adopters to have the full picture so these boys can be set up for success.**

These boys have been through a huge life change, but they still have so much love to give. They deserve a soft place to land and a family willing to keep them together forever.

Looking for a new best friend but find the shelter environment a little overwhelming? Join us tomorrow from 11 AM - 3 PM at PetSmart in Fremaux Town Center, Slidell and meet some of our adoptable dogs and puppies in a more relaxed setting!

Our adoption events are perfect for families who want to take their time getting to know a potential new family member without the sometimes chaotic atmosphere of a busy shelter. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for our animals to get out, explore, and let their true personalities shine. You may be surprised at how different a dog can be once they’re away from the kennel environment!

Whether you’re ready to adopt or just beginning your search, we’d love for you to stop by, meet some amazing dogs, and learn more about finding the perfect fit for your home.

🍌 Meet Chiquita 🍌

This 2 year old terrier mix weighs in at 42 lbs of personality and potential. Chiquita had an owner once… but sadly, no one ever came for her. Now she’s waiting for someone who actually means forever. 💔

She walks well on a leash, knows “sit,” listens well, and likes kids. She can be selective with other dogs, though it could very well be the shelter environment talking. Shelter life has been hard on her. The constant noise and overstimulation leave her stressed, pacing, and barking in her kennel.

But outside of the shelter chaos, Chiquita is a completely different girl. Calm, attentive, and much more relaxed once she gets away from all the commotion. She just needs a chance to decompress and feel safe again.

She’s looking for either an adopter or a foster willing to help her remember what home feels like. A break from the shelter could make a world of difference for her.

This 6 month old terrier mix came to us earlier this month as a stray, and honestly… we cannot believe nobody came looking for this girl!

Currently weighing around 25lbs, Vera is the total package:✔️ Great with other dogs✔️ Good with kids✔️ Knows “sit”✔️ Walks nicely on a leash✔️ Certified sweetheart

🐾👑 Whisker Wednesday: A Plea for Kinder (formerly Luna) 👑🐾

386 days.

That’s how long this special girl has been waiting at the shelter.

Kinder, formerly known as Luna, didn’t end up here because she failed at being a pet. She came to us when her person lost their home and promised they would come back for her. They never did.

And somehow… she is still here.

Still waiting. Still overlooked. Still hoping someone will finally see her for exactly who she is.

With more adult cats coming into the shelter, the environment has become increasingly stressful for Kinder. The noise, the constant change, the lack of predictability — it’s starting to weigh on her. We would truly love to see her find a calm, understanding home.

Kinder is about 5 years old now, and she is very clear about who she is.

She absolutely loves being gently brushed and will happily soak up the attention when she’s in the mood. She is affectionate — but on her terms. She enjoys companionship, but not clinginess. She likes quiet spaces, sunny windows, catnip, snacks, cardboard boxes, being gently brushed, and a peaceful routine where she can simply exist without pressure.

She is not a “pushy” cat. She is not a chaotic cat.

She is a “know me first” kind of cat.

🖤 Low maintenance. High standards.

Kinder must be the only cat in the home. She would thrive with someone who understands independent cats — someone patient, consistent, and respectful of boundaries. In the right setting, she could also shine as an inside-only shop cat, where she chooses when and how she interacts with people.

She doesn’t need a crowd. She doesn’t need chaos. She just needs her person.

Her adoption fee is fully sponsored to the RIGHT home.

386 days is far too long for a cat like Kinder to be waiting for her chance.

These adorable adolescent males are $50 each and come with their own house/cage plus starter food and bedding to help them settle into their new homes.

They must be housed separately, but they’ve been warming up to being held and are making progress every day. With a little patience and love, they should continue to blossom.

Meet Jinxy — a 5 month old shepherd mix (maybe husky?) who came to the shelter as a stray back in the middle of April. Since then, she’s been winning everyone over with her big personality and big voice. 🐾🎶

Ears up, ears down, move your body all around… that’s basically Jinxy’s daily motto. 😂

Jinxy is energetic, vocal, outgoing, and always ready for the next adventure. She’s looking for a family that can match her fun-loving spirit and keep up with her active puppy energy. She’s great with other dogs, does well with kids, and is smart as can be. She already knows “sit” and is eager to keep learning.
