TWO YEARS AGO TODAY I went and saved my Bubba! Bubba was going to be euthanized because of recurring ear infections. 💔 We said yes to him, having absolutely no idea just how much that yes would change our lives.
Not long after, we learned Bubba had a severe heart murmur and subaortic stenosis. I’ll never forget the vet telling me so bluntly that he may only have a few months… that his heart could give out at any time, while sleeping, playing, eating, or simply living his life. It was that same day, we ADOPTED him with plans of giving him the best last few months… here we are. Two years later. 🥹❤️ Two years of saying no to harsh medications with awful side effects, and choosing heart supplements instead. Two years of eating like an absolute king. Two years of being spoiled beyond belief. Two years of kisses, cuddles, silly moments, and more love than I knew my heart could ever hold. Bubba isn’t just a dog to me. He is my soul dog. My whole world. 🥰 He fit into our family like he had always belonged here. He loves our kids with his entire heart. He loves his furry siblings. He has brought so much happiness, comfort, laughter, and love into our home simply by being Bubba.
Sometimes I look at him and think about how close the world came to losing the sweetest boy… and how unbelievably lucky we are that somehow, he ended up with us. We know his heart is special. We know nothing is promised. So we don’t take a single day with him for granted. Today, I’m just incredibly grateful. Grateful we said yes. Grateful his heart has kept beating.
Grateful he chose me to be his person.
And praying with everything in me that we still have so many more years together. 🙏🏼
We saved him that day… but in so many ways, he saved me too. love you more than you will ever know, Bubba. My soul dog. My sweetest boy. Forever.
