Stealing Hearts Rescue is a large-breed dog rescue dedicated to providing more than just basic care to dogs awaiting adoption. Many of the dogs in our care—particularly large and bully-breed dogs—arrive after experiencing neglect, long shelter stays, medical challenges, or the stress of being overlooked due to breed stigma. While they wait for their forever homes, enrichment is essential to maintaining their physical health, mental well-being, and adoptability. The Enrichment Supplies and Activities Program is designed to provide daily physical, mental, and social stimulation for dogs housed at our facility. This program includes the ongoing use of durable toys, chew bones, treats, and interactive enrichment items that help reduce stress, prevent boredom, and encourage healthy behaviors. Due to the size and strength of our dogs, toys and chews must be replaced frequently, as they are used daily and wear down quickly. Now, thanks to the petfinderfoundation and their generous grant, all of the Stealing Hearts shelter dogs will get the chance to enjoy daily enrichment. Thank you, Petfinder Foundation!

Hallie – Hound mix – 2 yrs – female (46lbs)

Say hello to our adorable girl, Hallie! This little sweetheart was found wandering a construction site. The crew saw her around for a few days, called Animal Control, and she was taken to a county shelter. We saw her sitting there sadly and knew we needed to make her a SHR girl.

Hallie is safe with us now and we all absolutely adore here. She can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but warms up quickly and then loves to get attention. We don’t know what all she went through while she was alone and running loose, but we do know that now she wants to stay close and we can’t blame her. She’ll even climb into your lap for affection. 💕 Hallie is good with other dogs, has an easy play-style, and gets the cutest zoomies when she’s really excited. While she’s pretty easy on a leash, she is not comfortable with loud noises, and will try to pull you back to the shelter when she hears them. We believe this will get better as she realizes that she is safe and cared for now. Hallie is like a little flower and every day we get to watch her blossom a bit more. It’s truly amazing to see what love can do! We can’t wait to see her at her full potential. If this sweet girl sounds like a good fit for your life, please complete our application today. Harlin – Staffordshire Terrier/Great Dane mix – 15 months – male (88lbs)

Introducing our goofy boy, Harlin! Harlin was surrendered by his owner to a county shelter because “he has too much energy”. Of course he has a lot of energy, he’s a puppy! It’s so hard to understand why people get puppies and then expect them not to act like puppies. We saw Harlin’s adorable face and snatched him right up to live in safety and comfort with us while he waits for a real family who will love him forever.

Harlin has been so much fun to have around! He’s great with other dogs and will adjust his play-style depending on who he’s playing with. His original owner said he’s housebroken and he doesn’t have accidents in his kennel. Harlin does have a lot of playful, silly energy and will need regular exercise to keep him happy. He loves going for walks, but does pull a bit on the leash. We think he’d love his new family/person to be active and include him in their adventures. He also loves the baby pool and will happily splash around making everyone laugh. Harlin is a big, derpy boy and will be the best friend to some lucky person/family. Ramona – Bull Terrier/Husky mix – 2 yrs – female (52lbs)

Meet our sweet girl, Ramona! Ramona was found living in a home with a LOT of other dogs. Due to past issues, all the dogs on her owner’s property were removed and taken to a county shelter via court order. We spotted Ramona there and decided she looks like a Stealing Hearts dog…and we were right!

Ramona has been awesome since coming to stay at our shelter! She is happy, playful, and full of joy. She’s a chatty girl and will give you her opinion whether you ask for it or not. She doesn’t have accidents in her kennel area so she’s likely housebroken. Ramona absolutely loves people and getting attention – she will roll over right in front of you hoping for a tummy rub. She also loves to play with other dogs, but she can be a bit much for some. Her play style is quite rough and rowdy. Ramona is an easy walker; she’s very good on a leash. She also loves to relax and will be sure to find a sunny spot to nap. This sweet girl has so much love to give and she’s looking for the right person or family to give it to.
