Piper and Boeing came through training together, which gave us the extra challenge of teaching two housemates how to work as a team without feeding off each other.

We spent a lot of time on tandem heel, obedience, impulse control, and learning to stay focused on their handler instead of each other. In the beginning, they actually worked better separately, and finding the right rhythm together took some practice. Then one day it finally started to click!

From neighborhood walks to Home Depot, Old Navy, the farmers market, and down stays at Luci’s, they learned how to navigate busy environments side by side. By the end, they were handling crowds together, holding their commands, and looking much more in sync.

Training two dogs together takes patience and lots of repetition, but these two made so much progress during their time with me!

Pepper’s training included a big focus on recall and learning that “come” means come, even when something more interesting is happening.

We started inside, moved into the yard with dogs on the other side of the fence, and then began adding more real-world distractions. She also headed out to places like Old Navy to practice her obedience in public.

Reliable recall is built through repetition, repetition, and more repetition, and Pepper did a great job putting in the work.

Frankie started training with a little bit of testing and plenty of personality. Neighborhood walks gave us opportunities to work around dogs, cats, bunnies, and people while reinforcing calm behavior and engagement.

From there, he graduated to Home Depot, the farmers market, Luci’s, and increasingly challenging down stays. We also saw a huge improvement in his marking behavior as he learned more structure and stopped practicing the habit.

A lot can change when you combine clear expectations with consistency.

Akira’s journey was all about trust and confidence.

In the beginning, she wasn’t quite sure what she thought about me or the whole training situation. We took things one step at a time, built a relationship, introduced obedience, and slowly started venturing into public.

Eventually, the dog who was unsure and reactive was confidently walking through stores, working around people, responding beautifully to her handler, and genuinely wanting to train.

Watching her personality soften and her confidence grow was incredibly rewarding.

Reggie came into training HOT. Fun, boisterous, energetic, and ready to make sure everyone knew he had arrived.

We worked on channeling all of that enthusiasm into obedience, impulse control, heel, place, and duration work. One of my favorite milestones was taking him to lunch and having him hold a down stay on the patio while I walked away to grab my food.

Teaching an active dog how to turn that energy off when asked is just as important as teaching them how to work.

Beau picked the perfect week to come stay with us for boarding! 🐾☀️

We gave the yard a big update this summer, and Beau was more than happy to be one of the first boarding pups to test out the new pet turf. 😂 Safe to say, he approves!

A huge thank you to for the amazing work! The yard turned out better than I imagined, and I literally can’t get enough of it. Having a clean, dog-friendly space that still looks beautiful is such a game changer around here. 🙌🐶

Barkley made it pretty clear from day one that he was a smart pup. He already understood quite a bit, so we focused on polishing his obedience and teaching him how to stay engaged around distractions.

Neighborhood walks turned into trips to Home Depot, the farmers market, public down stays, and eventually working toward hands-free and off-leash obedience.

He’s such a sweet dog with a willingness to work, which made progressing his training so much fun.

Okay, so I guess I never gave everyone an update on the Malinois puppies I was fostering! 🫣🐾

Pink girl found an amazing new home with a Border Patrol family and now has a family of her very own who absolutely adores her. ❤️

Little black female Adia is back with her breeder and is still looking for her forever home. She has a little more drive, but she’s small and petite and would make a great active companion. If you know someone looking for a fun, active Mal, let me know!

And then… I foster failed. Not once, but TWICE. 😂 I kept two of the boys.

Never in a million years did I think I would keep siblings, but these two have brought so much joy into my life. My other dogs are getting older, and after having these babies since they were only 5 weeks old, I just couldn’t let them both go. Apparently they had other plans for me. 😂❤️

So here’s a completely unnecessary amount of pictures of my boys growing up. 🫣
