If Ritz had a View-Master of his journey, it would look a little something like this. 🤍

Born with hip dysplasia and suspected cerebellar hypoplasia, Ritz had been living for years with untreated medical needs. After he was found as a stray and his owner was located but didn’t want him back, we knew his story couldn’t end there.

Ritz immediately received the hip surgery and physical therapy he so desperately needed, and since then, he’s made more progress than we ever imagined possible.

While he’ll always have his own way of getting around, it will never stop him from living life to the absolute fullest.

But, as everyone in animal rescue knows, finding adopters for special needs dogs is hard.

So we thought maybe if you saw Ritz’s journey, you’d see just a glimpse of what we see. You’d see how much he’s overcome. How much love he brings into every room. And how much joy he finds in simply being *here.*

And maybe you’d see that a dog who needs just a little extra can give you more than you ever imagined. Maybe you weren’t exactly ‘looking’ for a special-needs dog. You were just looking for Ritz.

I’ve been feeling an overwhelming amount of gratitude lately for what this sanctuary and rescue has somehow become.

So many people have decided these dogs matter. And every person brings something different. Every contribution looks different. But every single piece matters.

And somehow, all of it has found its way here.

Thank you for creating a place where love has somewhere to go.

Last week, we celebrated Capone’s 11th birthday.

While he enjoyed all of his favorite things, surrounded by people who love him, we couldn’t help but think about all the years before LTA; the nine years of his life before finding his way to us.

Almost 5 years ago, Capone was e-listed at a local shelter. We helped transfer him to another rescue, hoping it would be the beginning of a better life. Instead, he spent nearly two years living mostly in a kennel.

When that rescue shut down in 2024, Capone was abandoned as a stray, and found himself back in the shelter system once again. Because we were still tied to his microchip from all those years ago, we got the call asking if we could help him.

There was never any question. We were on our way to pick him up within minutes.

The months that followed were probably some of his hardest yet. For a dog who spent most of his life being invisible, Capone had to learn how to trust, interact with the world, and how to just *be*.

Since then, he’s experienced so many firsts and has made more progress than we ever could have imagined.

He’s professionally trained, he LOVES car rides, long walks, playing tug, and even bath time. He’s silly, playful, affectionate in his own way, and forms incredibly deep bonds with his people.

After years on his own, Capone isn’t the kind of dog who loves everyone right away. And we don’t expect him to. He’s hesitant with new people and would do best in an adult-only home as the only pet. But once you’re his person, you’re his WHOLE world.

And while he always has a home here, he should get to experience a home of his very own.

Our birthday wish for Capone is just that. We know it’s “ambitious.” We know people aren’t lining up to adopt or foster a senior dog who needs a little extra patience (and daily thyroid medication). But we will never stop looking, because Capone deserves to spend his golden years being someone’s everything - not waiting for someone to see what we already know.

Happy 11th, Pony Boy. You are so loved. 🤎

Last night, I wasn’t at the sanctuary. I was home putting my kids to bed while our staff, volunteers and fosters rolled out air mattresses, sleeping bags and blankets throughout the sanctuary to spend the night with the dogs.

As I looked through the photos this morning, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Because they didn’t just host a sleepover; they reminded me of something much bigger.

A few years ago, Love Them All was just a dream shared by a handful of people. Today, it’s become a community filled with people who choose compassion, over and over again…even when no one is watching.

People often see the adoptions, the surgeries, the new clinic and the sanctuary itself. What they don’t always see are the thousands of quiet moments like these that make all of it possible.

Watching our team choose to spend a Saturday night with the dogs wasn’t just heartwarming…it was a reminder that this mission has become so much bigger than me.

To every staff member, volunteer, foster, donor and supporter who has helped build this community...thank you.

You are the reason our dogs don’t just survive. You are the reason they are loved. So much.

And after seeing the photos we shred earlier, I have no doubt they slept a little better last night because of it 🫶🏼

If you know us, you know that we save the dogs who are facing euthanasia in the shelters, living with devastating injuries, battling complex medical conditions or have otherwise been discarded and have no one else to help them.

Every day, we fight for the dogs who truly need us most. But rehabilitating them takes far more than love. It takes an extraordinary team of people and top-notch veterinary medicine to give them every opportunity to heal and ultimately go on to be adopted.

Today, our [what-was-once-just-a-vision] veterinary clinic is fully up and running, and we’re now able to perform many of the advanced surgeries these dogs need right here under our very own sanctuary roof.

We have been growing so much these past few years, and we’re now looking for a highly skilled, full-time Lead Veterinarian to work with our surgeon and help drive our medical program.

We’re seeking a seasoned professional with extensive surgical experience, excellent clinical judgment and the confidence to manage complex medical cases. Soft tissue surgery experience is required, and orthopedic experience and/or an internal medicine background is a tremendous bonus. We need someone who is committed to practicing exceptional medicine, willing to think creatively when conventional approaches aren’t enough and who will treat every dog who enters our clinic as if they were their own.

If you’re looking to build something meaningful alongside a team that believes every dog deserves a chance at the very best care, we would love to meet you.
