BOGO? We say GO- GO!!
A rare opportunity for 2-for-1 toys is something worth sharing - especially on a weekend that will be welcome-to-summer-in-Arizona HOT.
As Enrichment Focused Pet Sitters, we recommend you head over to Bark & Luv, our favorite pet emporium.
Your leash-trained pet gets the excitement of a social outing, you get a bargain, and everyone gets to stay a little closer to the air conditioning.
Then enjoy a stroll around Casa Paloma and reward yourself with a cold drink or sweet treat.
Weekend enrichment isn't just for pets!

The more we learn...the better we care.

Recently, I renewed my Pet First Aid/CPR certification and my Certified Professional Pet Sitter designation.

Over the past months, Yesspet Pet Care has also certified our newest team members with the Professional Pet Care Association and for Pet First Aid/CPR, and renewed Fear Free and first aid certifications for our "core four" team members.

So why do we spend so much time on training, certifications, and continuing education?

Because professional pet care is about more than feeding pets, walking dogs and cleaning litter boxes.

Yes, training prepares us for emergencies and helps us recognize when something isn't quite right. But just as importantly, it helps us provide better care every single day.

What many people don't realize is that professional certifications aren't simply earned and forgotten. To maintain them, we must continue learning through coursework, classes, and ongoing education.

Experience matters.

But experience combined with continuing education means we're constantly improving our understanding of animal behavior, Fear Free care, pet health, safety, and enrichment.

The result?

We can better recognize fear, anxiety, and stress. We can tailor our approach to the individual pet in front of us. We can create more engaging visits, build trust more quickly, and provide enrichment that keeps pets mentally and emotionally fulfilled while their families are away.

And that's what creates peace of mind for pet parents.

When you leave town, you want to know your pets are safe. But you also want to know they're happy, comfortable, engaged, and understood.

That the person caring for them is continuing to grow, learn, and improve - not relying on what they knew five or ten years ago.

Every certification, renewal, and continuing education course is an investment in making that happen.

We invest in what matters.

Because great pet care isn't just about preventing bad outcomes.

It's about creating great ones.

I share the following information to Enlighten, not Panic, as we have clients, family and friends who travel with their dogs to Mexico. I also urge those traveling to/from Mexico with pets to check with the USDA for updates on required health certificates.
"The USDA has officially confirmed the first U.S. case of New World Screwworm (NWS) outside of Texas. The parasite was detected in a companion dog residing in Lea County, New Mexico. Additionally, a new case was confirmed in a goat in Gillespie County, Texas.
What this means for Arizona: While this development brings the pest into our neighboring state, there are still ZERO indications of screwworm in Arizona, and our commercial food supply remains 100% safe. These cases are still over 400 miles from the Arizona border.
🥩However, because this latest case involves a pet dog, it is a critical reminder that NWS doesn't just affect cattle—it impacts livestock, pets, and wildlife alike. Local vigilance is now more important than ever.
🛡️ How to protect your animals: Because this pest spreads primarily through the movement of infected animals rather than the flight of the insect itself, checking your animals daily is our strongest defense. The USDA urges all animal owners to inspect livestock and pets.
Arizona ranchers, pet owners, and veterinarians should report any suspicious larvae or wounds immediately to our state team at [email protected]. You can track official national updates, press releases and read the full response playbooks at Screwworm.gov. "

I can't decide if I'm happy to see them all getting along together....
Or nervous about what they're thinking.
They've either solved world peace, or hidden my car keys.
Either would be good, actually - it's just about nap time anyway!

"I see you. I smell you. I might even give you a little taste test..."

A few minutes later, this fearful pup was giving Rayna kisses.

Moments like this are why we're so passionate about Fear Free care.

When working with anxious or fearful pets, success doesn't come from being bigger, louder, or more persistent. It comes from patience, observation, respect, and allowing the pet to move at their own pace.

Over the recent holiday, we were especially proud to watch our newest team members put these skills into practice. For many pet professionals, Fear Free means learning new techniques - but it also means unlearning some old habits that can unintentionally add stress or pressure.

Our team showed patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to earning trust rather than demanding it.

And sometimes, that trust looks like a nervous dog choosing your lap.

We're excited to see what this summer brings.

🧀 It's National Cheese Day, and we're feeling Gouda!

Cheese is one of those foods that many people AND dogs love.
It's packed with calcium, protein, and vitamins - but it's also high in fat, so moderation is the name of the game.

Cats? Well, they're a little more complicated. Many cats are lactose intolerant, so cheese isn't always the purr-fect choice.

And dogs can be sensitive too. Some are lactose intolerant, and too much rich cheese can contribute to digestive upset - or even pancreatitis in susceptible dogs.

So why are professional pet sitters celebrating cheese today?

Because when a pet looks at a pill and says, "Absolutely not," cheese often rides to the rescue.
A little cottage cheese, a piece of mozzarella, or the ultimate canine luxury - a dab of cream cheese - can turn "no way!" into "can I have another, please!"

We're not saying cheese solves everything...

But it's definitely earned a special place in our pet care toolbox.

Happy National Cheese Day! Tell us: what's your pet's favorite cheesy snack?

Uh oh... so much for our June "Rabbit, Rabbit!"
If you've never heard of it, there's a fun superstition that says if you say "Rabbit, Rabbit" first thing on the first day of the month, you'll have good luck all month long.
We did our part...
But apparently the rabbit had other plans.
Still, we believe a rabbit sighting is a good omen!

BECAUSE - did you know tomorrow is 602 Day here in Phoenix? I had no idea this was a thing, but it turns out a lot of area businesses are offering special deals and discounts on June 2nd.

And saving money definitely counts as good luck in my book.

Being Prepared Matters.

When it comes to Professional Pet Care, nothing is more important than the safety of the pets entrusted to us.

That's why I'm spending today taking Pet First Aid & CPR Training through The Frontline Coalition - for the third time in less than six years.

Pet First Aid and CPR training isn't a "one-and-done" credential. Skills fade, best practices evolve, and Professional Standards require recertification every two years. Staying current is part of the responsibility that comes with caring for someone else's beloved family members.

Every member of the Yesspet Pet Care team is certified in Pet First Aid & CPR, and we continually invest in keeping those skills sharp.

Interested in becoming the first responder for your own pets? Or are you a pet care professional looking for quality training?
