REMINDER: Volunteer Appreciation Night is NEXT SATURDAY! 🐴❤️

We can’t wait to celebrate the incredible volunteers who make Dream Riders of Kentucky possible! Join us Saturday, October 24, at 5:30 PM at the barn for an evening of food, fun, and appreciation for the amazing people who give so much of themselves to our program.

Our volunteers show up day after day, give their time, work hard, love on our riders and horses, and help make a difference in the lives of the families we serve. We truly could not do what we do without them, and we want to make this evening extra special! ❤️

We’ll be grilling hamburgers and hotdogs, and we’d love a little help from our Dream Riders families and riders to fill the tables with goodies for our volunteers!

Here’s how you can help:

* Bring a side dish, dessert, appetizer, drinks, or another food item to share.
* Drop off your contributions at the barn the afternoon of Saturday, October 24.
* If bringing food isn’t convenient, monetary donations are welcome to help cover the cost of the evening.

A BIG THANK YOU to the Knights of Columbus Council 6101 in Sorgho!

We had the pleasure of working alongside these guys this morning, and they were absolutely wonderful to work with! Their hard work, teamwork, and willingness to help made the morning such a great experience. And what a day it was — 220 chickens sold!

Fundraisers like this make a real difference for Dream Riders, helping us continue providing equine-assisted activities to individuals in our community. We are so thankful for organizations like the Knights of Columbus who step up to support local nonprofits and the people they serve.

To everyone who bought a chicken, helped with the sale, or played a part in making today a success — THANK YOU! And a special thank-you to the Knights of Columbus 6101 for including Dream Riders in this year’s fundraiser. We appreciate you more than you know!

❤️ Katie is still looking for her forever home! ❤️

Our sweet Katie is a special girl who deserves a wonderful place to spend her retirement years. At 25 years old, she has earned a life filled with comfort, love, and someone who will appreciate all that she is.

We’re hoping to find just the right person or family who can offer Katie a safe, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years. Because of her age and Cushing’s disease, she does have some special care needs, and finding a home that understands and is prepared for those needs is especially important to us.

There is no cost to adopt Katie. ❤️ Our goal isn’t simply to find her a home, but to find the right home, one where she’ll be loved and cared for for the rest of her life.

❤️ Some acts of kindness never leave your heart. ❤️

Today, we were surprised and deeply touched by an incredibly generous donation made to Dream Riders of Kentucky from the estate of Lena Aull. We are so grateful to Lena’s daughters, Terri and Vickie, for thinking of our program and continuing their family’s legacy of generosity and support.

The Aull family has been part of the Dream Riders story for many years, and their impact on our organization is truly immeasurable. When Lena first came to the barn to see what we were doing, she saw something worth believing in. Lena was a classmate of Mike Clark, one of Dream Riders’ original founders, and her support went far beyond words. The Aull family paid off the loan on our barn, a gift that was so significant it quite possibly saved our program during those early years. They continued to support us generously over the years, helping Dream Riders grow into what it is today.

Terri and Vickie have also volunteered with Dream Riders in the past, making this family’s connection to our mission even more special.

To receive this unexpected gift today was a powerful reminder of how deeply the kindness of one family can impact an organization and the people and horses it serves. Their generosity helped give Dream Riders a place to call home, and their continued support is a beautiful part of our history.

To Terri, Vickie, and the entire Aull family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your family’s generosity has made a lasting difference at Dream Riders, and we will never forget it.

Join us at Dream Riders of Kentucky for a little holiday magic as we kick off what we hope will become a new holiday tradition!

Open House & Holiday Horse Photos is happening Sunday, November 8, and we can’t wait to welcome you for a festive afternoon of horses, holiday photos, barn tours, and more!

Photo sessions with Jill Mills of MayBarry Studio will be first come, first served throughout the afternoon, so come ready to capture some special holiday memories with our four-legged friends!

🔧 It Takes a Village!

Sometimes it takes a village to keep everything running smoothly at Dream Riders of Kentucky, and today we’re giving a big THANK YOU to Haley’s grandfather for helping us solve a frustrating problem!

We had been having trouble with the running lights on our trailer when hooked up to our truck. Several people had taken a look, but the issue just wouldn’t cooperate! Thankfully, Haley’s grandfather offered to take a look. After quite a bit of work, replacing the trailer tow hitch receptacle plug and a fuse, we’re happy to report that our trailer lights are working again!

While working trailer lights might not seem like a big deal, they play an important role in keeping our horses, volunteers, and everyone else on the road safe. Making sure our equipment is working properly is just one more way we care for our Dream Riders family.

We are so grateful for the people who step up, lend their time and talents, and help us tackle the little (and sometimes not-so-little!) challenges that come with running a nonprofit.

From keeping our horses happy to keeping our equipment road-ready, it truly takes a village, and we’re so thankful for ours!

Well, we’ve got a new cowboy in the Dream Riders family!

Meet WAYLON! Named after country legend Waylon Jennings, this handsome 6-year-old Morgan/Percheron cross gelding stands 15.2 hands and is already stealing hearts around the barn.

Waylon is sweet, safe, curious, intelligent, and handsome, and we think he’s got a whole lot of “good times” ahead of him!

From “Luckenbach, Texas” to “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” we’ve got the Waylon Jennings playlist ready. 🎶

And if you ask us… “I’ve Always Been Crazy” about a good horse!

Welcome to the family, Waylon. We’re so glad you’re here!

🎉 VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION IS ALMOST HERE! 🎉

We’re getting closer to our Volunteer Appreciation on Saturday, October 24th and we cannot wait to spend the evening celebrating the incredible people who give their time, energy, and hearts to Dream Riders!

We’ll have hamburgers, hot dogs, s’mores, a movie, gifts, and lots of time to relax, laugh, and enjoy being together!

We’re officially on our two-week break from sessions!

After a busy session filled with lots of riding, learning, smiles, and memories, our horses and volunteers are getting a well-deserved little break.

But don’t let the word break fool you… things will still be in high gear around the barn! 😉 Over the next two weeks, we’ll be busy working around the facility, tackling some much-needed admin work, schooling our horses, preparing for our upcoming Volunteer Appreciation event, and making plans for a fun-filled next session!

We’re so thankful for all of our riders, families, volunteers, and supporters who make what we do possible. We hope everyone enjoys a little downtime, and we can’t wait to see everyone back at the barn!

📅 Classes will resume the week of October 19!

Until then, we’ll be busy behind the scenes getting everything ready for another great session at Dream Riders!
