Do you have a cat 7 years of age or older? 🐱🐾

We are recruiting cats with chronic kidney disease (any stage!) AND healthy cats age 7 or older for a biomarker, DNA and microbiome clinical trial.

The study offers blood work, urinalysis, and ultrasounds throughout a year for CKD cats and healthy cats also get complete diagnostic blood work, urinalysis and urinary ultrasound free of charge as well.

We are trying to better understand and identify biomarkers that are unique to cats with chronic kidney disease to better diagnose and treat them.

New Clinical Trial for Dogs with Mitral Valve Disease

The VCIC is currently enrolling dogs in a study for myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD). When MMVD becomes severe, a hormonal system known as RAAS (renin-angiotensin aldosterone system) becomes activated, which can have detrimental effects on the heart. This trial is evaluating a new oral medication that may help reduce the detrimental effects of the RAAS hormonal system. The medication uses plant-based encapsulation technology, which allows oral administration of drugs that would otherwise need to be given by injection. Dogs that are enrolled will take the study medication for 21 days.

Basic Eligibility: Dogs over 4 years of age, weighing between 6-20kg, with mitral valve disease and heart enlargement.

Benefits: The costs of all study related procedures are covered.

To find out if your dog may be eligible, please contact the VCIC at 215-573-0302 or email [email protected].
