City of Elderly Love Helping Philly's senior pets and the people who love them City of Elderly Love is a Philadelphia-area 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to senior pets.

We work first to prevent the surrender of older animals to shelters and, when prevention is not possible, to rescue at-risk seniors from area shelters. Through a network of volunteer foster homes, strategic outreach, and community events, we place these animals in permanent adoptive homes and provide palliative and hospice care when needed. Past or present, doesn’t matter. We want to hear about them. Drop a photo in the comments, share their story, give us something to smile about.

And remember, you don’t have to adopt from a shelter or rescue for it to count. Did you inherit a pet? Take in a neighborhood stray? Privately adopt a pet during a difficult time? IT COUNTS!

It’s the LAST weekend before Halloween!

And I won’t lie … I’m a little sad that my favorite month is already winding down. 😭🍂🎃

BUT! We’re not done yet. There’s still time to squeeze in a little more fall fun and I’m talking fun for the whole family including your furry best friends. 🐶🐾

So grab your pups, throw on your favorite flannel (or costume 👀), and make the most of this weekend with one of these events supporting my rescue partners!

Someone’s happy to be safe… WELCOME GUS!

Gus (and his emotional support Gumby) hitched a ride out of ACCT Philly this morning with his new foster family! At 13 years old, Gus found himself in the shelter after his owner passed away. Gus has clearly been well loved over the years and we’re excited at the chance to help him find his next family. Plus, he did well in dog play groups at the shelter and previously lived with cats so he’s basically perfect in our books. 🤷‍♀️

Smiles all around! Wishing Empress the happiest life with her new mom, Helen!

13-year-old Empress joined us after her heartbroken former family ran into housing troubles. We’re so happy we were able to help her go from one loving family to another and bypassing the shelter-system. A big thank you to her foster, Karen for providing a safe place for Empress when her first family reached out for help.

HELLO FROM LATTE! 👋

Latte’s days are looking much different since leaving ACCT. And that’s all thanks to her foster, Avery and new doggie sibling, Puppy! Avery was interested in adopting Latte right from the shelter where she had been turned in as a stray but we beat them to her, so naturally we just added Avery to team. ☺️

Latte’s been cleared for surgery and is scheduled for her spay, mammary mass removal, and dental surgery the first week of November.
