We are so grateful to share that Salem was discharged from the hospital this evening. She is resting comfortably in a foster home, and very likely, having the best sleep she's had in awhile.
There have been a lot of strong opinions on our post regarding police and animal shootings. From a personal perspective, I agree. We hear about these incidents WAY too often and it needs to be addressed and there needs to be a discussion and accountability and solutions to reduce these tragedies. But we also think it's important to note that there MANY dogs that have come through our rescue only because the police got involved, got in touch with us, secured a dog, called us for help or helped US get a dog into the safety of the rescue and those situations are much more common than taking in a dog shot by police-- but THOSE stories don't make the news. We are grateful for all the police officers who have helped us save so many lives over the years.
Salem currently has a medical bill totaling over $7,000. If you can spare a few dollars for Salem, please consider making a donation.
