Potato Chip is a small 8 year old spud with a whole lot of flavor! She’s urgently looking for a new foster or adopter by 9/25.

Potato Chip’s fosters describe her as a smart lady who catches on quickly to what’s happening around her. She doesn’t need to be glued to your side; as long as she knows where you are, being in the same room is close enough!

Walks with Potato Chip are pleasantly low-key and she walks beautifully on leash. She’s not looking to train for a marathon, so once around the block is usually plenty!

Potato Chip’s ideal home would be a quiet household with a person or people who appreciates the finer things: short strolls, cozy naps, and having a sweet little lady nearby.

Potato Chip recently had seizure episodes on 8/31. Thankfully she hasn’t had any additional episodes since starting treatment, which is given every 8 hours. The cause of the seizures is unknown, and we don’t have previous medical history for her, so it’s hard to know if these seizures are new or have been an issue before. Any potential foster should plan to monitor her closely, and an adopter would need to plan to monitor her and plan to establish care at their own vet right away.

If you’re looking for a dog who would love to share your day, keep you company, and occasionally request a few well-earned scritches, Potato Chip might just be your perfect little snack! ✨ PAWS Foster Spotlight: Meet Gwen! ✨

In just over a year of fostering between PAWS and another animal welfare group, Gwen has cared for 27 cats and kittens — including 18 neonatal bottle babies who require round-the-clock care!

As a lifelong animal lover, Gwen first tried fostering with three newborn kittens, thinking they’d be the easiest cats for her elderly pit bull to adjust to. Her plan worked a little *too* well, however, because all three became foster fails! Not only are they now best friends with her dog, but they are full-grown cats who help Gwen welcome new foster babies by grooming, playing, cuddling, and teaching them their feline manners.

Bottle babies quickly became Gwen’s specialty. While waking up every few hours to feed them can be tough, she says watching their firsts, from opening their eyes to taking wobbly steps and trying solid food, makes it all worthwhile. Knowing how much these tiny kittens need fosters keeps her coming back.

For anyone afraid they’ll get too attached, Gwen offers this advice: “The joy you get from the fosters, the joy you're afraid to lose, is the same joy you're about to give to a new family who is currently missing and needing it.”

🥬 Meet Benson and Cragen! These bonded babes can often be found cuddled up together in their hidey house for naps. While still a bit shy around new people, they have been making great progress in foster care- accepting and enjoying pets from both their foster mom and a very gentle 4-year-old. They’re always happy to accept treats from friendly hands.

🍌 Banana and Li’l Bug are very social and chatty— both with each other and the other piggies in nearby cages at our adoption center, so they could be good additions to a home with guinea pigs, or for folks looking to add two new piggie-shaped obsessions to their daily life. They may be a smidge shy when you first meet them, but buttering them up with some veggie snacks always goes a long way to winning them over!

🥕 Aldo and Felix are sweet, playful bonded brothers looking for their forever home! Their personalities complement each other: Felix is the introvert to Aldo’s extrovert. Both boys share a big love for food and gladly enjoy a variety of veggies, as well as their favorite snack: banana. They can also be quite the chatty duo, often having soft conversations throughout the day.

🥒 Are you ready to rumble? Nitro and Gemini may not pass for true American Gladiators, especially since they’re basically just sentient little potatoes, but these two likely would actually LOVE an enriching and fun obstacle course to run through! Nitro and Gemini were described by their owner as being the closest duo, so we’d love to keep them together. If you’re let them come to you, particularly at snack time, their trust can be won with time and patience!

All hail Queen Applesauce! This sweet-and-spicy senior has been ruling her foster home with confidence and charisma, but there’s one thing still missing from her royal life: a kingdom to call her own for good.

You may remember Applesauce (aka Sauce) from a while back, and while she’s still searching for the right adopter, she hasn’t lost an ounce of her oversized personality. Her résumé includes “self-sufficient,” “girl boss,” “motivated,” and “go-getter,” and frankly, we can’t argue with any of it. She loves making her rounds around the house, investigating whatever catches her curiosity, and waiting patiently by the kitchen faucet in hopes that one of her loyal subjects will turn it on for her. When she’s off duty, you can usually find her snoozing on a soft chair or the back of the couch and enjoying head pets — provided they don’t interfere with her very important business.

Applesauce has done well with older, relaxed cats who respect her boundaries and could potentially live with a very calm, low-key dog after slow introductions. But if we had to guess, she’d be mostly happy reigning as the one and only pet in her forever kingdom! She’d also do best in an adult home or one with older children who can respect her boundaries.

Sauce does have skin allergies, which are currently managed with a special diet and allergy medication — and she’s responded beautifully. Just look at her glow!

Spotlight: PAWS' Safety Net Foster Program

Many pets who arrive at shelters have families who love them dearly, but are facing hardship and need a safe place for their pet to stay temporarily. Slippers, this sweet cat pictured here, was in our program earlier this year. The day she was reunited with her dad was nothing short of joyful — a beautiful reminder of just how important it is to help pets and the people who love them stay together.

When just a few weeks or months stand between losing a pet and keeping them, PAWS' Safety Net Foster Program offers a lifesaving alternative to surrender. We place these pets in temporary foster homes and reunite them with their families once they're back on stable ground.

This program relies entirely on foster parents who can care for a Safety Net pet, but the need continues to outpace the number of available homes. That's why we need foster heroes like you to help keep more families together!

Here's how it works: after you sign up, our team will connect with you to learn about your home and availability so we can make a good match. Once you're paired with a pet, you'll care for them until their reunion date, then bring them back to the shelter. We'll handle the rest!

Most Safety Net fosters last 3-5 months. PAWS covers all medical care, and we can provide food and supplies if needed.

Love a senior glow up? So do we! Our little tortie gal, Coco Coconut, here is a bit thin, a bit shy, but more than a bit gorgeous. She has so much potential and would love your help with her very own transformation!

She’s a nine year old lady who is single and ready to mingle after being found stray. The shelter is a bit overwhelming for her, but while she spends a good chunk of her time in her hidey bed, she has also revealed herself to be a social eater who does appreciate and enjoy affection from human visitors!

The ideal home setting would include a calm, quiet space where Coco can decompress and to help her come back out of her shell again. She’s taking a common medication to help with her shelter stress and to transition to a new home. She’s also had some dental work done earlier today and will need a second procedure once she recovers.

This lovely lady would greatly appreciate a foster home to recover and decompress in instead of the shelter. Please email [email protected] to learn more about taking her home!
