A friend of C.A.R.E. contacted us about this adorable orange guy who she found outside right before the hurricane. He was with a friend, but that kitty found her own forever home. The lady took him in as a foster, but he needs a forever home too. He also has some issues with his teeth that will need addressing, so the person who takes him in must also being willing to help him with his special needs. He deserves a chance and will only be placed in a loving home. He is a young male, neutered, and seems to be very sweet. If you can help, please contact us at [email protected].

Looking to Adopt a Dog?

Adopt Atlas!
Atlas is a 2 year, 50lb, corgi/husky mix who came from a high-kill shelter down in South Carolina when his family dropped him and his brother off
because they couldn't afford to care for them anymore. His brother got adopted but Atlas had to make the long trip north to spend some time in foster before finding his forever home.

Atlas is an adorable, mellow sweetheart with a sweet face and goofy Gizmo ears. He loves the company of other dogs and would love the company of cats if they wanted anything to do with him. He just stands there and whines at my cat for attention but is not pushy/aggressive in the least towards her. He walks fairly well on a leash and seems to have a good foundation for being fully house trained. He responds well to his name and redirection.

Atlas has a great attitude for undergoing so many different moves in the last few months, and I think he'd do great in almost any living situation. Atlas is available for adoption through Almost Home Dog Rescue. You can read about their adoption guidelines here:

and see his profile here:

If you have questions for Atlas' foster mom, you can email me (Sara) at [email protected].

Meet Mya. She is about 4 months old and was rescued by a friend of CARE's from a farm in the Poconos. Our friend asked that we share this sweet kitten's picture and info. When she was found, Mya was very cold and emaciated. Our friend said that this kitty jumped right in her car and was ready to get out of that place. She is very lovable and likes to curl up against your legs. Not to mention, she is a lap cat--our friend said she slept on her lap all the way from the mountains! She needs a forever home. She gets along with cats, but seems afraid of dogs. She will have all shots and be spayed before adoption. If you would like to adopt Mya, please contact [email protected]. Please see more pics of Mya on this page.

C.A.R.E was in front of Queen Village Animal Hospital yesterday, October 7. It was a great day. We met nice people (as we always do). We brought Rocky and Valerie with us. Rocky was the star of the day, & everyone who came by said hello to him. He's a lovable boy who just wants his own family. You can see him in this picture. Valerie is a pretty kitty who has come with us on adoption days before. She loves when people come by and pet her. If you're interested in adopting Rocky or Valerie, please email us at [email protected].

C.A.R.E. will be at Queen Village Animal Hospital tomorrow, October 7, 2011. If the weather changes (rain), we'll have to reschedule. Otherwise we're doing more adoptions and will be there after 9:30 a.m. Please come out and see us! We'll be available to take applications, and we'll also be there if you have questions about our spay and neuter program.
