💔 Three kittens. Five days. Three heartbreaking losses.
We don’t even know how to put this week into words.
In just five days, we had to say goodbye to Star, Slinky, and Cuddles. Three little lives that we fought so hard for. Three kittens who deserved so much more time.
⭐ Star fought for two months against serious congenital issues. We tried. We treated. We hoped. And eventually, her little body just couldn’t fight anymore.
💔 Slinky was one of those cases where we thought we finally had an answer. We thought we knew what was wrong and that we had found the right treatment. But we were wrong. Even with hospitalization and intensive care, she continued to decline. We had to make the unbearable decision to let her go rather than allow her suffering to continue.
💔 Cuddles was left behind sick by someone who should have cared for him. One of our fosters took him in without hesitation. He was incredibly sick — severe pneumonia and panleukopenia had ravaged his tiny body. Despite everything we could do, treatment would have meant prolonging his suffering with an incredibly low chance of survival. So we made the hardest decision of all: we let him go peacefully.
There is nothing easy about these decisions.
Nothing.
People sometimes think rescue is about saving animals. And it is. But rescue is also about knowing when we can no longer save them — and having the courage to stop their suffering when they have no other voice.
We make these decisions far more often than anyone should have to.
And right now, we are devastated. We are exhausted. We are grieving three tiny souls we desperately wanted to save.
And meanwhile… the bills are still here. 💔
We are drowning in veterinary bills because we do try. We pursue diagnostics. We hospitalize. We treat. We fight. We give these cats every reasonable chance we possibly can.
We hate asking.
But if you can spare even $5, $10, or whatever you can, it would mean more than you know. Every donation helps us pay down the enormous medical bills from cases like these — and, more importantly, it allows us to say yes when the next sick kitten needs someone to fight for them.
Because there will be another kitten.
And we want to be there.
For Star.
For Slinky.
