Did you know that there are some diseases that can cross the species barrier? Certain bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses can be transmitted to you from your companion animal. These diseases can range in severity from mild to severe, to even fatal. Rabies, for example, is almost always fatal when not treated in time. This is why the law requires companion animals be up to date on their Rabies vaccinations to limit transmission risk. While Rabies virus is often spread via a bite from an infected animal, the risk for other diseases can be limited with good hygiene practices (hand washing) and bringing your pet in for treatment for any skin lesions or loose stools. Prevention for fleas and ticks will limit your exposure to those parasites as well as tick borne diseases they can spread to your or your pets.

Have you ever seen a Pembroke Welsh Corgi Puppy? Well, now you have. Isn't she BEAUTIFUL. Corgis are high energy breeds of dog, so mom has a lot of training and exercise planned for little Elsa. She may even start doing obstacle courses and dock diving to keep her active and out of trouble. We live for all of her kisses at her puppy wellness visits!

Daily mental and physical stimulation are not only recommended for us, but our dogs and cats, too! Break out that chase pole and crinkly toy for your cat to chase and burn off some energy. Did you know you can purchase a small wheel for your cat to walk on? They may even get less of those nighttime zoomies that wake you up!

Short daily walks are great for dogs when the weather is cooler. Too hot outside to safely walk your dog? Practice tricks or scent games in the house to challenge and stimulate them. Puzzle feeders and kong toys stuffed with low calorie treats can tire them out as well. (just be mindful of calories- we don't want them to gain weight!)

Be creative and find something safe and interactive to do with your pets. Not only will exercise keep their joints and organs healthier, but it will also strengthen your bond with your pet.

I think since we are a veterinarian hospital, a lot of people assume that doctor exams are the only service we offer. They aren't! Pets that are up to date on required vaccinations and f***l can drop off Monday through Friday for a bath/spa service. Nail trims, a**l gland expressions, ear hair plucking, paw pad shaving, and sanitary clips (the tooshie area) are available spa services as well. We do have a groomer on staff for haircuts (These are by appointment only, since there is only one of her!) Call or book online today. πŸ›€βœ‚οΈπŸ©

Drop off appointments for scheduled spa services or grooms are available prior to 9:30a.m. EST. We cannot accept walk in baths during vet clinic office hours in order to dedicate the majority of our staff to our medical cases. 🩺🐈
