It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost a year since we announced we were closing. This week, I finally got the courage to drive by/through our former property on Crystal Bend and survey the changes.
All the buildings, including our home were gone. Even the concrete slabs were gone. Where I raised my children, worked with our team over the years, and greeted thousands of you, was all gone.
I expected it to stir up emotion in me, and it did. But I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised that the grass, the trees, and the pond (mostly empty) were All. Still. There.
I know that one day soon that will be gone too. But I was grateful to see that not everything was bulldozed just yet. I called Bart on my way home to tell him what I found. As usual, he had the perfect words to soothe my soul. “The land was never ours. We were merely stewards of it.” Yes. Yes we were.
We truly miss you all. We miss our team and especially, we miss all those sweet puppers of yours. We are discovering life after DogBoy’s in Round Rock (and soon Georgetown). I am working with other pet care pros across the US to continue the ‘DogBoy’s Way’.
And Bart? I’m happy to report that Bart is finally getting to enjoy some well deserved free time. He’s still taking great care of me. 🤓 We hope you all and your pups are doing well!
