Slowing down is not always just aging.

Senior pets can develop arthritis, dental disease, kidney changes, thyroid concerns, weight changes, and other health issues that start quietly.

Small changes matter. Less jumping, more sleeping, changes in appetite, bad breath, stiffness, or new behavior can all be signs worth checking.

Senior pet wellness exams help us catch changes earlier and support your dog or cat’s comfort through every stage of life.

If your pet is entering their senior years, this is a good time to schedule a checkup.

What is something your senior pet still loves to do?

I love bugs as much as the next person. But I don’t love the diseases they can carry, that’s why we keep them on prevention!

Your pet can look healthy and still have changes happening inside.

That’s why preventive blood work matters.

It gives your veterinarian a clearer picture of organ function, blood sugar, hydration, infection indicators, and other health markers we can’t see from the outside.

It’s especially helpful for senior pets, pets on long term medications, and pets preparing for procedures.

Blood work can also create a healthy baseline, making future changes easier to spot.

Preventive care is about giving your pet more healthy years.

Have questions about blood work? Ask us at your next visit.

Refills just got easier.

Central Texas Animal Hospital has switched our online pharmacy to Covetrus, giving pet parents a convenient way to order trusted medications, preventives, and pet health products through our veterinary team.

One of the biggest perks is pricing designed to be lower than Chewy on many items.

That means convenience, confidence, and veterinary oversight in one place.

Need a refill or want to compare options?

Visit our website to access the new online pharmacy and make your next order simple.

Dogs make ordinary days better.

They greet us like celebrities. They turn walks into adventures. They somehow know when we need comfort, movement, or a laugh.

Today, we’re celebrating every couch cuddler, snack detective, tennis ball chaser, gentle giant, tiny shadow, and loyal best friend.

International Dog Day is a good reminder to give your dog a little extra love and stay current on the care that keeps them healthy.

Drop your dog’s name in the comments and tell us what makes them special.

We want to celebrate the dogs of the CTAH family.

Texas summer brings a lot of pet questions.

Is the pavement too hot?

How much panting is too much?

Are fleas and ticks worse right now?

Can my dog swim safely?

The simple answer is to watch your pet closely and plan around the heat. Walk early or late, check pavement with your hand, offer plenty of water, and stay consistent with parasite prevention.

If your pet seems weak, disoriented, or unusually tired, it’s time to call a veterinarian.

What summer pet question would you ask our team?

Monitoring your cat’s litter box habits can tell us a lot about their health!

Some skin issues need extra support to heal well.

Phovia light therapy may be recommended for certain pets dealing with wounds, irritation, infections, or ongoing skin concerns.

It uses fluorescent light energy to support the skin’s natural healing process, based on your pet’s exam and treatment plan.

Skin problems can be frustrating for pets and their people, especially when itching, redness, or discomfort keeps coming back.

Curious if Phovia could be a fit for your pet?

Visit the Phovia page on our website or ask our team at your next appointment.
