Meet Ace! Ace is a 2-year-old, 31-pound Border Collie with a sweet and easygoing personality. As a smart and active breed, Ace is looking for a home that can provide plenty of physical exercise along with mental enrichment to keep his mind busy.

Ace walks on a leash and is continuing to get comfortable walking in new environments. He gets along well with other dogs and enjoys playing with canine friends. Like many Border Collies, Ace may show some natural herding behaviors during play, such as chasing, circling, or nipping at other dogs’ heels. He would do well with a canine companion who can match his energy and play style, but he could also be happy as your one and only.

If you’re looking for a sweet, active companion who is ready to keep learning and exploring with you, Ace may be a great match!

Hi, I'm Sasha, a 2-year-old tan German Shepherd mix ready for my forever home! 🐕 I'm spayed, weigh 53 lbs, and I'm looking for a family who can provide me with a secure, fenced yard where I can thrive. I came to the shelter with a buddy, so we haven't been tested with other dogs — we'll need a meet and greet at the kennel to see how I do in your home. My adoption fee is just $100, and I'm excited to meet you and show you what a great companion I can be! ❤️

Meet Komere!

Komere is a fun-loving 1-year-old, 13.8 pound Rat Terrier who is ready to find his forever home! This handsome young guy is friendly with both people and other dogs and absolutely loves spending time with his canine friends.

Komere is an outgoing, social boy who enjoys attention, playtime, and being around his favorite people. He gets along great with other dogs and truly enjoys their company. Because canine companionship is important to him, Komere requires a home with another people- and dog-social dog who can be his friend and companion.

At just one year old, Komere has plenty of energy and will benefit from a family that can provide him with exercise, enrichment, training, and plenty of opportunities to play. He also requires a securely fenced yard where he can safely run around, explore, and enjoy his playful side.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for Komere, any resident dogs, and his potential adopters.

If you're looking for a friendly, playful young dog who loves people and other dogs, Komere could be the perfect addition to your family!

Austin is a sweet 4-year-old Poodle weighing around 20 pounds. He can be a bit shy at first when entering new surroundings and meeting new people, as new experiences are still very new to him. In the right home with patience and time, Austin can build the courage to trust and become more comfortable in his surroundings.

Austin is dog social and does well when around other dogs. He may do best in a home with another social canine companion who he can turn to for comfort and guidance as he adjusts to his new life.

Austin is still mastering his leash skills and may benefit from a secure, fenced-in yard while he continues to build his skills and confidence. He is looking for a patient family who will give him the time and understanding he needs to settle in and feel safe.

A meet and greet at the shelter is required to help ensure Austin and his potential new family are a good fit for one another.

Meet Sam – A Playful Little Heart with a Big Future ❤️
📍 Available at our NMDR Dogsville facility in Humansville, MO

Sam is a two-and-a-half-year-old Miniature Poodle who weighs 13 pounds, and this sweet little fellow is ready to take the next steps toward the life he deserves. He’s still a bit shy when it comes to people, but there’s a happy, curious, energetic boy underneath that hesitation who’s just waiting for the right family to help him blossom.

One of Sam’s favorite things is getting outside into the play area. He loves to explore, follow his nose, and see what interesting things he can discover. And when other dogs are around, even better! Sam enjoys their company and has a playful side that makes him a fun little companion.

Sam would thrive with another friendly, social dog in his new home, especially one who enjoys running around and playing. A playful canine companion will give him someone to have fun with while also helping him learn the ropes of family life. Sometimes the best teacher for a dog who’s still figuring things out is another dog who already knows how wonderful life can be.

Sam is still a little unsure about being picked up. He may get nervous when someone reaches to lift him, but once he’s being held, he does well. He’s learning that human touch can be gentle and safe, and with continued positive experiences, we hope those moments will become easier for him.

Sam needs an adopter who understands that bringing home a shy dog means continuing a journey, not expecting an overnight transformation. He’ll need patience, gentle encouragement, and opportunities to build trust through everyday experiences. There may be moments when he needs extra reassurance, but there will also be wonderful little milestones worth celebrating.

Sam has all the makings of a wonderful companion. He’s sweet, curious, playful, and already showing us how much he enjoys the good things in life.

He doesn’t need someone to rush him into becoming a different dog. He needs someone who will love him while he discovers the wonderful dog he’s always been. ❤️

Ice is an 8-year-old Husky weighing 47 pounds, and this sweet girl is ready to find her forever adventure buddy! She has a calm, steady personality with an independent, easygoing side. Ice enjoys exploring her surroundings, taking in all the interesting smells, and checking out the world at her own pace. She also loves spending time with her people and soaking up the good stuff life has to offer.

Ice is very food motivated, so treats are definitely the way to her heart! They are a great tool for building a bond, encouraging positive interactions, and showing her that new experiences can be fun. She walks well on leash, enjoys relaxed outings, and loves her toys. When it comes to affection, Ice likes to do things on her own terms, but during calm, low-pressure interactions, she often shows her sweet and affectionate side.

Ice gets along well with other dogs and enjoys having canine company. She does, however, prefer to keep her toys to herself and isn't interested in sharing her treasures. Her future family will need to provide appropriate management around toys and other high-value items, giving her space to enjoy her belongings separately from other dogs.

Because Ice enjoys her space and has specific preferences around her belongings, she will do best in a home without cats or other small animals. A secure, fenced-in yard is also required so Ice has a safe space to enjoy outdoor time, sniff around, and explore at her own pace.

Ice is currently undergoing heartworm treatment and will need ongoing care, including return visits to the NMDR clinic. Her future family will need to be committed to continuing her recommended treatment and veterinary care.

If you're looking for a sweet Husky with a calm personality, an independent streak, and a serious appreciation for snacks, Ice may be your girl! She'll do best with a patient family who will give her time to settle in, respect her boundaries, and let her show her personality at her own pace. With consistency, tasty treats, and a little patience, Ice is sure to make a wonderful companion.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure a good fit for Ice, any resident dogs, and her potential adopters.

Meet Norah – A Gentle Little Soul Learning to Trust
📍 Available at our NMDR Dogsville facility in Humansville, MO

Norah is a three-year-old Maltipoo who weighs just 8 pounds and has the sweetest, gentlest little spirit. She's still shy around people, but beneath that uncertainty is a girl who clearly wants connection—she's simply still learning how to accept it.

Norah is curious about attention and wants to be near people, but when someone reaches for her, she isn't always sure what to do. She can be difficult to catch right now, so our team is working with her patiently and helping her learn that being approached and handled doesn't have to be scary.

And once she's in your arms, we're beginning to see something beautiful happen. Norah is starting to settle into laps and discover that being held can mean warmth, safety, gentle pets, and love. Those quiet moments are big milestones for this little girl.

Norah will need an experienced adopter who understands shy, under-socialized dogs and won't expect her journey to end simply because she goes home. She needs someone willing to give her time, work with her gently, and celebrate progress at Norah's pace rather than rushing her.

She would also do best with a friendly, social dog in her new home. Having a canine companion to follow and learn from will help show Norah the ropes and teach her all those wonderful things that come with simply learning how to "dog."

Norah isn't going to walk into her new home knowing exactly how to be a beloved family member. She's going to learn—and she needs someone who will love her while she does. With patience, experience, and a kind dog friend by her side, this incredibly sweet little girl has so much potential to blossom.

Her journey isn't finished. Maybe you're the person meant to help her continue it. ❤️
