UPDATE: We are currently pursuing a few foster and adoption scenarios. We hope to have them in an adoptive or foster home within the next few days. Thank you to everyone who shared them!
This post is to find Yoshi and Gabby a home together. They are both "safe" no matter what here at TAPS but we will have to separate them due to kennel stress. Yes, we understand it will be stressful to separate them, which is why we made this post making a final plea, but it is also harmful to keep them together in the kennel at this time.
This post is not to debate our adoption practices/policies. I will be deleting those comments. All you are doing is deterring potentially qualified applicants from applying for them for fear that they will be denied. There are a variety of reasons why someone might not be a good fit for them but there are a million reasons why your application might be the right one.
Despite 67 days in a kennel, 89 comments on their posts, 1,500 shares, going to off-site events together, this bonded pair of 9 year old labs have not received any real interest. Lab rescue asked if we would transfer them, we said yes, but they haven't had any luck finding a foster home for them either. These dogs are so deserving of a home.
Sadly, kennel life is taking it's toll so we are giving them one last chance to be adopted together or after 9 years together, they will be separated. It's not safe to continue kenneling them together due to kennel stress so we are trying one last plea to get them a home together within the next 48 hours or we have no choice but to separate them and adopt them out separately.
As of 3:50, this post has been shared and over 80 comments with a few offers to foster but I've checked online and no applications for adoptions and/or fosters have been submitted yet. I will check regularly and screen applications to try to get them into a home together.
I think individually they are dog friendly but together, I don't think they'd do well with another dog in the home because they'd be protective of each other. Yoshi does not get along with cats. Their combined adoption fee is $85.00. They appear child friendly.
If you are interested in adopting this bonded pair together, please apply immediately at www.tapsshelter.org.
