This is the reason why we develop our bulls...not finish our bulls like a fat steer ready to butcher as many of the bulls marketed today are...we want our bulls developed enough to express their genetics and masculine characteristics yet lean enough to not hinder breeding performance, that is why our bulls have historically been able to cover so many cows as yearlings when compared to the industry recommendation. We personally had two groups of cows covered last summer soley by yearling WR Bar Angus bulls at 27 head per bull carry rate with a 95-97% breedup!

Only 45% of extremely over-conditioned bulls pass their breeding soundness exam, compared to 81% of bulls with just adequate body condition. Too much fat impairs production of testosterone and interferes with s***matogenesis. There will be more abnormalities in his s***m.
